Kat slid into her usual table at Bar 12. Admittedly she didn't care that much for the place. Drunk people and old people all looking for a young booty call made her feel a little uncomfortable and rather dirty, but the pay off for spending her weekend nights here were worth the discomfort. The bar owner had allowed her to sing for an hour on the Karaoke stage for tips and a small pay from the owner. She brought in a small crowd, but nothing substantial. Of course she was hoping that a signer would come around soon or at all. Luckily she was making enough to live on and nothing much more than that, but she didn't mind that. Her joy was in singing and that is what she got to do every weekend. However it would be better if she could get a small recording deal. She didn't want to be extremely famous but she wanted to be able to pay off her college debts as she looked for a teaching job. With so many schools cutting back on teachers it is even harder to try to find a school that is willing to hire a choir or music teacher; despite her high qualifications.
So in the end she sat at the one bar that was willing to spend a little extra cash to help out a girl that didn't have many other options. Her outfit was picked out for her and left in the back so as she sat there she played with the sparkles on the dress they provided her. The outfits were always a little shorter, tighter, low cut, and flashier than she would have liked, but it was the only job she could make some money. Her favorite waitress brought her over a cherry coke and an order of fries. That was another benefit of working at the bar, she got to eat while she was on the job for free. Unlimited drinks were a favor she could take up whenever she wanted, but she didn't like to drink alcohol so she never really took the owner up on that one. At around eight she got up and walked back stage. She had about an hour before she went on stage and she had to discuss what songs she was singing and do her own make up. Of course all of this was mundane for her but the waitress that she loved always made the time to help her and make it more exciting. At long last she stepped onto stage and started singing to the point that she just got lost in the music.
