Christian's life had been nothing short of hectic in the past few weeks, especially since he'd gotten his sisters to Kansas City. It had taken him a while, longer than he would have wanted to, but in the end he'd finally managed to get them away from their mother. He was doubtful she'd even noticed they were gone for the longest time anyhow, but if she tried to even say anything about it or try to get them back, he had no issues threatening her with social services. Besides, nobody else knew they were gone either except for their school, so chances were she would keep on getting child support for a bit longer. As long as she got that coming in, she wouldn't give a shit as to whether they were back there or not. If anything, she would probably be glad that she no longer had kids around the place when she wanted to bring people back in the apartment for sex or booze or drugs or whatever the hell else she did. It'd been a little over a month now since they'd moved over here, and he had yet to hear from her. He'd left a letter, or more like a note, to make sure she didn't try to signal missing kids to the police, but even if he hadn't, he wasn't even sure she would have.
Mixing college with his part time job and taking care of his sisters wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world though, but he'd promised them he would take them away as soon as he could, and he knew they couldn't wait any longer. Thankfully, Brittany was old enough to look after herself and after their youngest sister, so when she was around, he didn't have to worry about anything. That was, until she had signed up for the cheerleading squad and the volleyball team at her new school. Now she had practices and matches every so often, and since he worked quite a few evenings a week, and often at least one full weekend day, he'd eventually had to arrange for a babysitter. Savannah was a good kid, and she was very responsible for her age, but she was still only eleven, and he didn't feel comfortable leaving her by herself so often in a new city. He'd checked a few different places to find someone appropriate, and he'd ended up finding a girl who was currently a junior at the Academy. He'd figured the age difference would be good enough that she would still be able to have some authority over his sister - not that she was a bratty or disobedient person to begin with - but they would still be able to bond some. He'd given her a call the evening before to set up a meeting today with her, just to make sure she would be okay with when they would need her and what he could pay her.
