Ugh, winter. Tasha hated winter, and cold, and most of all, she hated, hated snow. That was one of the reasons why she loved spending her holiday break with her mom. Oh, she loved her dad, and she actually got along with him better than she did with her mother, but whereas her dad lived in a place where cold and snow happened, her mother lived in Hawaii. Year round sunshiny Hawaii. If it wasn't for the fact that she missed her father and didn't want to hurt his feelings or make him feel like she was picking her mother over him, she would ask to spend every holiday break over there, just because it was time that she got to just chill on the beach, toast in the sun and enjoy the heat. In the summer, it didn't matter quite as much - though she still very much enjoyed the month that she got to spend there - but in the winter, it made all the difference. This year had been her mom's turn to have her over for the holidays, and she had definitely made the most of it, spending nearly every day out and about from sunrise to sunset, and getting private lessons from hot surfer guys. The good life.
Now she was back in Kansas City though, back to school and homework and all the yucky stuff that came along with winter in Missouri. The first week back had been pretty brutal, especially when taking into consideration the jetlag of the first couple of days, and teachers were definitely getting right back into the groove of things. She had a pile of homework already, and though she really didn't feel like getting it done, she didn't have much of a choice. She'd done a few assignments with Tiffy, but today she would be on her own as her best friend was spending the day with her boyfriend, so she'd figured she might as well cram as much school work into her free day as she could, and that would free up the rest of her weekend. Hopefully, she would finish before the end of the afternoon, but as she walked into the library and unloaded everything she had to work on from her backpack, it seemed a bit unlikely that she would succeed her goal. Sighing, she opened her laptop and tried to figure out where to start, tapping her pencil lightly against her work planner. This would be a looong, long day.
