Being someone's girlfriend was not exactly how Kaylee had imagined it. Of course, she'd rarely bothered with thinking about it because she'd rarely considered the fact that she might be dating someone before she was a bit older - and actually, not before she lost a bit of weight. She'd rarely seen boys of her age going for girls who were a bit bigger than the average, and she was definitely glad that Maxwell didn't seem to be like them. She definitely enjoyed spending time with him, and it seemed to be made even better with the knowledge that they were not only friends anymore, but boyfriend and girlfriend. Of course, they hadn't actually done that much that could be a hint of it yet. They'd kissed a few times, but they were mostly pecks, innocent kisses. And then there had been some holding of hands, which she thought felt rather nice, but aside from that... nothing. And she was a bit concerned by it, which she didn't want to be obviously because doubting Maxwell was definitely the last thing she wanted to be doing, he was such an amazing person.
But still, was the reason why they weren't doing that much stuff because he didn't want to push her or just didn't want to? Maybe he'd reconsidered the whole thing, maybe he'd thought he wanted to be dating her because they got along well together and all that stuff, but now he was changing his mind. Maybe because he didn't actually picture himself doing anything too physical with her, and she could understand that too, but really she'd rather know before she got too attached, which she was already starting to get. She sighed a bit, something quite uncharacteristic of Kaylee, as she walked through the city on her way back to the Academy. She'd just been to the post office, mailing a letter to her parents, and a birthday card to Cody. But at the same time, she didn't actually want to go up to her dorm room right now. Kristina would probably be there, and though she quite liked the girl, she didn't really feel very comfortable around her right now, as if she was intruding on her or something. But it was nice outside, and as she sat down on a bench in front of the school, she figured she could soak up some the sunshine for a little bit.
