It was one of those rare times, life was just too much. It was hard to accept the fact that life would never be the same again. Paige had been through so much change in her life that she thought she was immune to missing someone or something. She realized now that she'd never been more wrong in her life. Paige missed her mother more and more everyday now, they'd been getting things difficult with bills and employment. Her mother was working two jobs and her father had finally found a job in a store just around the corner from their home. This would have been good news if Paige new the money he earned was being spent on useful things. Paige always knew her father liked to drink once and a while, but it seemed, from her mothers phone calls that her father was taking a turn for the worst in the alcohol respect. Paige wasn't worried about her mother, it was one of the qualities her mother passed down the family line. Emotional strength. But she was angry.
It was a different type of anger that built up inside of Paige. Just anger. Nothing violent, not resentment. Just anger that bubbled in the pit of her stomach. It seemed that this type of anger was worse than the others. She had no reason to feel it, she knew her mother would be fine, and her brother Jamie was fine. Her father was enjoying himself and her mother was fussing about alcoholism, that was all it took to set her off. Paige knew she was being stupid, maybe even a little gullible for listening to her mother like that. It was just one of her mothers little obsessions, she'd been reading too much in the magazines.
Although Paige thought she was being stupid, the bubbling feeling in her stomach didn't go away, It was was like she didn't have any control over her emotions anymore. A gift she used to posses. College had brought her down, she'd spent so long studying and worrying about exams that she'd had no time to get herself back out of the gutter of page after page of revision. She found herself thankful for the first time ever that the term was over and a new one was going to begin. A new start for herself, a new life and hopefully new opportunities. Both personal and professional.
Senior year was going to be hard. So she had little time to pick herself up. Maybe now was the time to do it. 'Don't leave what you can do today until tomorrow.' that was her view.
Paige got up from the bench which she sat and walked across the grass to wards the entrance of the building. The sunshine was helping the situation a little, but not much, not enough Paige thought. She had no idea what would cheer her up, but she was going to go and find the thing that would lighten up her day. It would take something really special to pick her up, but determination was the best way. Maybe a book, or a person inside the bookstore would cheer her up. It was unlikley that there was anyone in there anyway, with it being summer and all.
