So, this was the library. Even Gwyneth with her high standards had to admit she was quite impressed by the sheer scale of it. Her old school library had been pathetic in the amount of books it had, and the local community one wasn't much better. She'd constantly had to either order books in, if she knew a specific one she wanted, or save up money and go browse in a bookshop in Cardiff if she wanted a decent selection to choose from.
Living in Kansas City was certainly different to Swansea. The population was basically double, and Swansea definitely didn't have any skyscrapers. There was the accent that nearly everyone had, not necessarily American but she hadn't heard anyone speaking like her yet. English, there were a few, but not Welsh. The lack of uniform was also different, although she had been getting used to that in her two months in 6th form before transferring that. It was still strange to see everyone in the school in normal clothes, though. Various other differences were constantly surfacing and making her time a little uncomfortable.
Not that such discomfort was enough to do much to her usual study schedule. She was finding that the facilities around here were near perfect, although there was a lot more demand for practice rooms here than there had been at her old school. The amount and choice more than made up for that. But the normal schoolwork was a lot more than she was used to, and annoyingly it was eating into her practice time. So, she was up rather early before breakfast to get some designated reading done so that she could play more later. Selecting the book she needed off the shelf, along with a couple others that looked similar and might provide more background, she settled down at one of the tables and opened it up at the correct chapter, beginning to read and store what information was needed in her head.
