James was shocked by how fast the year was going by. Normally the weeks before Christmas seemed to drag on forever. This year, for some reason, that was not the case. He couldn't figure out why either. He figured that it was the fact that he was a senior this year and the one thing he didn't want was for the end of the year to come. Of course that made time go by faster and his graduation to loom over him like a shadow that just got darker and bigger by the minute. That's the way time worked though. If you wanted time to go by fast it moved so slow it was pure agony. If you wanted the time to go by slow it goes by so fast that you don't have enough time to even blink. That was the way he felt right now. Like the year so far had went by in a blink of his eye. That meant that he had to get moving on certain things that he wanted to get done this year. Even if those things did make his palms sweat, because he had never done anything of the sort before. Like his dad told him, he needed to grow a pair and do what had to be done before it was too late.
Some how that was how James convinced himself to go see Kendall in her dorm room. He was planning on chilling with her and by the end of the night asking her out. Hopefully she wouldn't turn him down. He didn't really like the feeling of being turned down, but then again he didn't know very many people that did. That was the one thing that kept him from asking out girls before. He never thought that any of them liked him so he let them pass by him without saying a word. He wanted to be more brave this year. He wanted to actually be something other than wall paper. He was ready to start being him, whoever that may be. He was rather sick and tired of being whoever people wanted him to be in the moment. The person they wanted always changed and that left him confused and not knowing who to be anymore. Another reason why he was still single. No one liked him because they couldn't figure him out. He couldn't really say anything against that either, as he didn't ever know who he was either. Today that was all going to change. He lifted his fist and knocked on Kendall's door, taking a deep breath as he did so.
