Jackie walked inside the classroom where the first group of Sophomore students were gathered, waiting for their first and last sex ed class. Here at Gordon Parks', gym classes included health information all year around - in her own classes, she often had the students do specific tests on themselves to check their heart rates, their breathing capacity, their flexibility, and so on, and she always made sure to get some words in about eating well. Sexual education, however, was not part of those health segment of gym classes. Instead, at the beginning of every year, the Sophomore groups received their regular informations about sex. What it entailed, how not to be pressured into it, safe sex, STDs, and so on. Since she was a gym teacher and was used to all that had to do with health, she didn't mind giving that little bit of information. It didn't bother her either, talking about that kind of a subject with others might consider awkward - Jason, for example - and that usually caused quite a lot of giggles. Actually, it was kinda fun to her - it amused her. And she did her job well, so she figured there was no harm to it.
She walked over to her desk, placing the box she'd been carrying on top of it as she let the students talk among themselves while waiting for the bell to ring and class to start. There was only a week past since school had started back, and so most of them were still talking about what they'd done during the summer and how they felt about being back at the Academy, some of them eyeing the little amount new students with curiosity while those looked around them in obvious discomfort. She felt a bit bad for them, getting into a new school and having to deal with a sex ed class already. That would be a nice start of the year. Finally, the bell rang and she moved around the desk so to stand in front of it, leaning back against the edge of it slightly while looking around the classroom that still buzzed with lesser, quieter conversations. "Alright class, settle down," she called to their attention, pulling out a pile of small homemade booklets that had informations about STDs and those other kind of issues you could get from having sex without knowing if your partner was clean and all.
"I'm gonna hand those out, but we're gonna wait a little bit before we get on that very fascinating subject that it sexually transmitted diseases," she said, giving out a few booklets to each student sitting in the front row so that they could hand them over to those sitting behind them. "Instead, let's just dive down head first into the subject, shall we? Some schools make the decision to avoid the subject, others promote abstinence. At Gordon Parks', we prefer to keep you well informed. We do not encourage you to go off and have sex at sixteen years old," she spoke clear and loud, her eyes sweeping the classroom. "But we know you'll do whatever you want to do, whether we tell you to do it or not, especially with today's society, and we'd rather you get the right information. So, safe sex. I do assume most of you can tell me what this is?" she asked, reaching inside the box to pull out a small tin foil square.
