It was only a week since school had started and Gavin already felt like he belonged here a lot more than he ever had anywhere else. It was a bit strange in a way, but at the same time, he definitely wasn't about to complain about that. Here, he had his own place. He didn't feel lost in a sea of students with professors who had no way of giving them much personalized attention. He didn't feel like he was lesser than anyone, or mattered less. He could make a new start for himself, and that was a refreshing idea. Not that his life back home was so horrible, nor was he being badly neglected. It was simply... different. Nobody would make fun of him or call him names because of the path of studies he'd chosen - after all, guys who danced did often get labeled in a certain manner. But not here, because he definitely wasn't the only one. Well, there were admittingly less guys than girls in his dance group, and it seemed to be the same for the Sophomores as well though he didn't know the ratio for the upperclasses. Still, the people who made fun of guys who danced didn't seem to realize how they got to spend a lot of time that involved a lot of closeness with girls who wore very fitting dance outfits.
Today was Saturday, but he'd gotten up early anyway, figuring that he already had so much school work, he might as well get an early start. Then again, things never entirely went the exact way you'd planned them, and though he'd promised himself he'd start out by reading the book his English Literature teacher had assigned for them to read, but the moment he'd woken up, he'd just felt like he ought to go and practice what the dance teacher had taught him so far. After a little inward debating, he decided that, since practicing his dancing had been on his list for later during the day, it was acceptable to switch the two activities, and he got himself ready, pulling on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt, grabbing his sneakers to put them on before reaching his key, his roommate already out so figuring he'd have to lock the door. It didn't take him very long to reach the main school building, loving that it was so accessible to students even after school hours and on weekends, making his way to one of the dance classrooms and stepping inside, glad to see it was empty. He headed over to the center of the room, sitting down on the floor and stretching one of his legs in front of him, the other bent as his foot rested flat against his thigh, leaning forward slightly as he began the process of warming up with stretching.
