PERSONALITY
Drake is a very friendly, sweet boy who’s probably never done anything to hurt anybody, and if he ever had, it was definitely an accident. He has a need to help out people, and he likes making others happy. He’s gotten used to it after his father’s death, being the only ‘man’ left in the family he was a bit of a daddy to his kid sister. He’s confident and smart, not the kin to need a lot of support from people though he couldn’t live without friends. He’s a people person, really, he’s not really one to put other’s needs before his own, but his own happiness does often depends on whether those he is close to and loves are happy or not.
He’s not exactly a class clown seeing as he’s pretty serious when it comes to school, he doesn’t want to miss out on anything the prof might say and he always listens carefully and takes good notes. However, when he’s alone with his friends, he likes to try and make them laugh, loving to see smiles on his friends’ and family members’ faces. He got the habit of trying to cheer up people by making them laugh after his father’s death, not liking to see his mother always looking sad and depressed and wanting the old Helen back. It didn’t fully work, but it did make the woman realize she had to be there for her kids, and Drake decided that he wanted to make a difference in other people’s lives, if just a little bit.
He’s not exactly a secretive boy, or hard to get to know, but he really only confides in people he is very close to, people he trusts. His trust is not overly easy to gain either, though it might seem like it at first, but it does take a bit of work before he really gets attached to someone enough to actually trust them. After his father’s death he took a step back from getting attached to people, not wanting to get the same feeling again if he ever lost somebody else, feeling which was worsened by the fact that his older sister stayed back in Ireland, which felt as an abandonment.
APPEARANCE
Drake would not be described as handsome by most people, but he does have a certain charm to him that gets people to find him cute at the very least. He can look a bit mischievous when he smiles because his mouth is slightly crooked whenever he grins, but it gives him a nice look still. He keeps his brown hair at a medium length, slightly shaggy but not too long either though it matches his personality pretty well. He’s quite tall for his age, standing at 5 feet 7 inches, though the previous year that couldn’t have been said of him – he grew a lot through the summer, gained about 4 inches and a bit of bulk even – he looked more childish when he was in his Freshman year, but now he could easily be taken for a Senior.
His style is pretty much laid back, t-shirts, button up shirts, jeans and such. He doesn’t care greatly about what he wears as long as it’s clean, and that means having been on the floor for less than a week and having no obvious stains or a bad smell. He doesn’t really enjoy dressing up, he thinks he looks a bit silly when he wears something like a tux or even a plain suit. Anyway, he considers it to be too complicated to actually try to match up some clothes – after all, he’s used to just picking out whatever he finds and putting it on, because all his pairs of jeans are rather similar and his shirts fit them all.
HISTORY
On the 8th of June 1992, Drake Ashton Connelly was second born to Keegan and Helen Connelly in Galway, Ireland. The first born, Maureen, was already five years old, and four years after Drake’s birth, Brianna was last to join the family, making him the middle child. He was definitely not saddened by the fact that he was no longer the youngest in the family, actually happy to have a younger sister to play with because Maureen was never really interested in playing with a small boy. He soon got to love the small shy thing, becoming very protective of her, watching over her whenever his parents were away along with whatever babysitter they hired, cause of course he was still quite young himself.
When Drake was nine, drama struck the family. It was Christmas Eve and everything was ready to celebrate the holiday like every year before – the socks were hanging by the fireplace, the tree was up, cookies and milk were out for Santa (Brianna, being only five, still believe in him) when Keegan realized he’d forgotten some of the presents at his parents’ house who lived hardly five minutes away. He should have been back quickly, but Eileen figured her husband might have gotten to talking to his parents longer than he ought to have, but after a whole hour of waiting, she started getting a bit more worried and gave a call to her parents in law, worry increasing when she got told that her husband had never arrived to their house. It was later found out that the bad weather and icy roads had caused an accident and Keegan didn’t make it through.
Having been born in Missouri, USA, Helen decided to move back to her old home state with her children a year after her husband’s death. Maureen didn’t agree to the move and decided to stay behind with her grandparents, being a very stubborn fourteen year old girl who didn’t want to be divided from her childhood friends and family who lived there, refusing to be forced into a new country where she knew nobody. Helen took it the hard way, but decided to let her daughter stay back, knowing the grandparents were heartbroken to see all their grandchildren leave, and in the end she only moved with her two youngest kids, going to live nearby her old home in which her own parents still lived.
Drake didn’t really know how to react to his father’s death, now being left the only guy in the family. Unable to really talk about how felt, he started writing a bit here and there and soon it grew to be a passion for him. It didn’t take long for his mother to notice seeing as the woman was now extremely protective and attentive of her children, and she figured he could actually get to be really talented if he practiced a bit more. His skills improved rather quickly, and it wasn’t long before they seeked out information as to where he could learn more about his passion and get some advices are to how to make it even better. They received a few tips about several schools, but the only one that really caught their attention was Gordon Parks’, and he soon applied for a scholarship, knowing his grades should be good enough to get it if his talent was. It wasn’t long before he received his acceptance letter and though it made him a bit sad to leave his mother and sister, he was glad about the fact that the school is nearby to his house.
