PERSONALITY
Abigail - Abby for friends - has is a very secretive girl. She's very nice and friendly, rarely says things that she knows will hurt people, has a bit of a goofy side, but it's extremely hard to get to know her. She doesn't have many close friends, if any, and most people who she considers as good friends know as much as her first and last name, age, talent and that's pretty much it. She hates talking about herself and, though it can be surprising to most people who take a good look at her, she is very self conscious. She certainly doesn't need other people bringing her down to feel bad about herself, she does it by instinct on her own. She's a perfectionist to a fault, mainly because she thinks the things she does are never good enough.
That side of her personally, however, is hidden. Most people don't know how bad her opinion of herself is, and those who manage to figure it out never get an answer or even a hint out of her. She's in denial about most things in her life, her bisexuality being one of them, as much as her talent for many things. She never shows off what she can do, or in very rare occasions when she feels like she will burst if she doesn't do something, but unless pushed to do something that could show she is in some way talented, she keeps it to herself. It is a wonder how she got to the Academy this way, and she never truely considers herself as being good enough for it either. She works very hard on every single project that comes along and is never satisfied by the final result.
The bad opinion she has of herself doesn't extend itself to other people. She usually thinks very highly of her few friends and classmates and often compares herself to them, thinking they are much better than she could ever be. She often puts the people she knows on a pedestal, and it usually is a very strong disappointement when she realizes they aren't as good as she'd thought them to be. She actually has very high standarts in practically everything in her life, even when it comes to love. She's an extremely romantic girl and most guys she's met simply haven't managed to give her what she wants in a relationship, and she's never let a girl try since she won't admit to herself she's also attracted to girls.
APPEARANCE
With her long wavy raven black hair and her bright blue eyes, Abigail is certainly not the homeliest girl around. Though she will deny it if you try and tell her that she's pretty - no use even thinking about saying she's beautiful or anything of the sort - there is no doubt that she actually is. She has a clear skin with a pale tone, and her black hair brings out her eyes in a way that make their color almost unrealistic. Slender and graceful, she reaches 5 feet 6 inches though her body type actually makes her look taller. Most people who see her from across the room usually expects her to be taller than them and are surprised when they realize, by standing next to her, that they are actually the same heigth or even taller than her.
She has a very simple style, usually wearing only jeans and t-shirts, sometimes button up shirts or camis, but rarely anything fancy, and, strangely enough considering her legs are some of her best features, practically never skirts or dresses. Though she doesn't need it, she also almost always wears makeup - the whole deal. Foundation, concealer, blush, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick or gloss, nothing is ever forgotten, and she learned it all from her mother too. Though it does usually make her look very nice, and she can achieve a gorgeous smokey eyes look when she tries, she could be just as pretty if not more if she didn't wear any at all or at least simply toned it down a little. She doesn't know how good she looks and that she's actually at her best when she goes with the natural look, which she only keeps when she's locked in her dorm room.
HISTORY
Born on the 10th of September 1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Abigail Leigh Donner's life began on a bad note as her parents divorced merely a month after the birth. Already having troubles with their relationship, Maureen and Robert Donner had waited for their daughter to be born, thinking having a baby might patch up things a little between them, but they were soon forced to face the facts - they were over. Abby stayed with her mother as her father moved to Georgia, where he re-married not even a year later to a single mother of three little boys, all under seven years old. With her, he had two more children, one daughter and another son, which Abigail has only met once, just like the rest of the family, as she never talks to her father anymore. To her, he's merely her biological father, nothing more. She doesn't really acknowledge his existence either.
As for her mother, she went on through life by dedicating herself to her work and criticism of her daughter. As a toddler, Abby never did things fast enough for Maureen's taste. It took her too long to start walking, to talk properly, to be potty trained, etc. Whenever the little girl came up to her mother, proud of a new achievement, it was always too little, too late. She ought to have been a genius child, or so it seemed. As she grew up, the criticism didn't stop, increased even. Abigail took several classes as a child, most of them being artistic, as though her mother wanted to make a famous girl out of her, which she probably did. But though she showed some talent in several classes, mainly singing and piano lessons, it was still not good enough because she wasn't the best. And it went on this way, appearance soon coming into play as well when her mother started telling her she should be more careful of what she ate if she didn't want to gain too much weight. The confidence and cheerfulness Abby had as a child soon melted away in self consciousness and constant need to please others.
As eleven, it was found by a teacher that Abigail was started to develop an eating disorder. She ate very little, drank nothing but water and was well on her way to anorexia. The only thing her mother had to say about it was that she was following her advices of eating less and that there wasn't a problem with it. Luckily, she was treated all the same, had to go to counceling a few times a week and got over it without her mother participating or encouraging her. This experience, however, practically destroyed the last of faith Abby had in herself. Her personality started changing drastically and she stopped talking about herself altogether, concentrating more on what other had to say of themselves, wanting to learn, trying to find a way of living that could finally make her mother happy.
When she turned twelve, Abigail heard of the Academy, but never dreamed she would be good enough to enter. A few years back, she'd started playing around with the little camera her mother had gotten her for Christmas, writing scripts and producing short movies with her friends. Her mother then saw the first hint of great talent that could be found in her daughter, having obviously ignored all the rest, and as soon as Abby told her about the Academy, she made research and applied two years early, making sure she would get a place for her there. Not too happy about it, Abigail didn't say anything in order to please Maureen, hoping this could finally be it. She didn't want to leave and go practically to the other side of the country, but she was at least happy to get into one of the best schools she'd ever heard of.
