Addison hummed to herself as she walked into Macken Park. It was the first weekend of the school year, one week over already. Addie didn't mind though, she still had one whole year after this one and then she'd try to get a scholarship for some University out of state. She was getting a little bored with this one and wanted to see something else, maybe go to another country, or even oversea. She'd always wanted to see Italy which was known for its amazing art, or maybe China for its original style. She didn't know where she'd go yet but one thing was sure, she would not spend the rest of her life rotting in the same spot. On top of it all, she had no particular affection for the state in which she lived in, or even the country. She had not been born in the United State and even though her place of birth was merely above the one she lived in now, her mother never wanted to go back. Not as though Addie needed her to do so but she didn't know if she could quite face it alone.
Shrugging to herself, she pushed out thoughts from her mind as she headed to her favorite place in the park - the fountains gathered in the middle. She quickly made her way to the first one and hopped on the small brick wall that was around it, walking along it before sitting on it with her legs crossed, not minding the occasional water drops she received from time to time as she took out a few pieces of paper and placed them on the brick wall, tucking her hand made purse between her legs as she leaned over to be able to draw. She took out two pencils, tucking one behind her ear as she started sketching with the other one, biting her bottom lip lightly in concentration. She could draw anywhere she liked, but outside - anywhere outside - was where she liked the best. There was so much more room to let the creativity and imagination run free, no walls locking it inside. Of course the teachers sometimes let them go out to paint and draw, but most of the time they had to stay inside and it was the part she hated most about it.
She kept humming to herself as she let the pencil run free over the paper, not planning to draw anything, just letting her mind guide her as she closed her eyes, a light smile on her face. However, she soon realized that closing her eyes while she was sitting on a thin brick wall right next to a fountain filled with water was not the best of ideas, especially not during the weekend when young children are running around and playing very loud games. As she momentarilly paused to think, loosing her concentration and so her ability to block every noise around her, she heard a loud, resounding shriek coming from not too far from her, causing her to jump of surprise and lose her balance. She fell into the fountain along with her sketches, pencils and purse and gasped lightly, opening her eyes and looking around to see where the shriek had come from only to see two small girls of about five years old running around the park, chased by a small boy of around their age, letting out similar shrieks to the one that had surprised her every minute or so. Groaning, she quickly took her purse out of the fountain, emptying it on the brick wall before she even got out herself, wanting to see what the damage was. Her body was pretty much water proof, but her belongings, she wasn't so sure.
