Ian walked up to the Barnes & Noble Book store with a gloomy look on his face, which wasn't really an habit of his. So he didn't necessarily smile all the time, and when he did, it was more of a shy smile, but still, gloominess wasn't really something that suited him very well. Right now, however, Ian was... well, not angry. Angry didn't really describe it well enough, and Ian didn't really get angry. Annoyed was more like it. He was annoyed at himself, though. He wasn't really a forgetful boy, most of the time the informations that entered his brain stayed there, and he didn't often find himself in awkward position because he'd forgotten someone's birthday or the the fact that he had a project due the next day had left his mind. No, he was an organized person, he knew what to do, when to do it, and most of the time, he also got pretty well how to do it. But it would seem that rain somewhat altered the way he was, or anyway that's what he blamed it on. And lately, Kansas City had been getting quite a lot of rain. So the other day, Ian had gone out for a walk in the park with his very favorite book and had sat down on a bench to read it, putting it aside for a few minutes when an acquaintance had come to chat a little. They'd both been caught by the rain however, and in their haste to leave, Ian had forgotten the book.
Most of the time, Ian preferred going to the Rainy Days Books store. He wasn't all that comfortable in retail stores, and he'd really rather be in the other shop which was one of his favorite in the whole city. But he'd already been there, and he hadn't found what he was looking for. If he didn't find the book here, he'd probably have to order it on the internet, but he'd really rather not have to wait a whole month before getting his book back. But then, there was the fact that this place was always filled with people, and he felt so uncomfortable about being in such a big crowd. It wasn't as though these people talked to him or even noticed him, but still, he didn't really like it. And yet, there were a few good points to being in this store rather than going to Rainy Days Books. There was the Starbucks coffee served in the bookstore's cafe, which definitely had its appeal, and then of course, there was the cheesecakes too. Those he could hardly ever resist from buying whenever he came here, and he knew that today would be no exception to the rule.
It didn't take him very long to find the book he was looking for, and that was was definitely another good thing about this store. Everything was organized and placed very well so that it could be found in less time than most other places if you were looking for something specifically, and it was rare that Ian walked into a book store without knowing what he wanted exactly. He knew some people enjoyed simply walking in and looking around, grabbing some books and buying whichever seemed most interesting even if they'd never heard of it before. He glanced down at his watch after having bought the book and figured he had a lot of time still before he had to go back to the Academy, and that he might as well do something interesting with that time. Smiling lightly, he headed over to the store's cafe and stood in line for a few minutes before buying some chocolate cheesecake, seeing there were several varities, most of which were berries though, and he didn't like those, so it made the choice pretty easy for him. Most of the time he merely chose plain cheesecake, but this time he figured he might actually try something else. Grabbing a plastic fork, he walked over to the nearest empty table and sat down, placing his bag on the table.
