Roxanne wasn’t really all that sure whether what she was doing right now was what she ought to have been doing. She’d finished most of the homework she had to get done for the next week, and she’d surely have some time to do some in the evening as well, then maybe tomorrow after church if it was really necessary. As an habit, when she started on homework a bit more intently, she didn’t really stop until she was fully done with it, and here at the Academy it usually meant that she spent most of her Saturdays doing nothing but school work, or going around the grounds and taking photographs, though that was definitely more enjoyable than maths and science. However, today, she had something planned. Well at least she thought she did… it was a bit confusing right now, but at this point she’d rather go to the place where she had to go to and wait for nothing than just miss it. Anyway, if she ended up simply waiting and spending the whole afternoon alone, it’d give her some time to do some good thinking, and that couldn’t be bad, though she really wished she could have someone to talk to about all of this, have someone explain her how it worked.
She hadn’t really talked to Elijah since Homecoming, and she didn’t know if that was meant to be taken as a good sign or a bad one. Well, her common sense told her it must be a bad sign, especially after what she’d read in the newspapers, and really, that gossip column seemed to do a lot more harm than good. After all, Elijah seemed like a guy who could really date any girl he wanted – he was attractive, he was funny and nice, or at least he acted it. Why would he pick her? And if he really was a player… well then, it was probably better that it’d been cut short before she fell for him too hard, because it would have ended at some point anyway. Sad thing was it wasn’t of much help at this point – she couldn’t really describe what she felt seeing as it was all new, but she could easily tell she liked him. How much, she couldn’t quite tell, but it was easy to say that it was too much. Well, especially if what she’d read was true, and seeing as she hadn’t really gotten a notice as to that, there wasn’t much doubt left in her mind that it wasn’t. Just hope.
She was slightly hesitant as she walked up to the arena that’d been built behind the Academy, connected to the swimming pool, and though it might be expected that the reason for that hesitation was because of what had happened, it was actually mainly because of the fact that she did not like sports. At all. And if Elijah did end up coming after all, she was certain she’d end up being extremely embarrassed by making a fool of herself. She knew ice skating required a lot of balance, and though she was quite graceful when she walked, she couldn’t be sure that would be the same on ice, and she dreaded the result. Sighing softly, she took a deep breath and walked into the arena, shivering slightly as the cold air hit her. It wasn’t extremely cold, but in comparison to how hot it was outside, there was a difference there. She’d planned that though, and though she didn’t have her winter coat out just yet, she’d decided to simply dress warmly, putting on a pink pullover that was a bit more fitted than what she usually wore but not too bad, along with a denim coat and scarf, and then she’d figured plain jeans would be fine with warm socks. If anything, she’d take the coat or scarf off. Glancing around to find she was alone inside, she went over to the bleachers and sat, placing her skates beside her. She figured it would be no use to put them on if she wasn’t to skate, but the truth was she didn’t really know how tightly she needed to tie them or anything.
