Sleepless Night {Milo}

Taylor was lying awake on her bed, her eyes drifting to the red digits on her alarm clock more often than she'd have liked. It was almost midnight now, yet she still hadn't managed to fall asleep, which wasn't really customary in her case. She tended to be a good sleeper, and at night there wasn't ever any difficulty in falling asleep. She usually spent about five or ten minutes conscious of her surroundings, and then she was in and out of it for a little longer, but it rarely took more than twenty minutes before she was down under. Tonight though, it just wouldn't work, and it'd actually been that way for a little while now, though nowhere near as bad as right now. For almost two weeks now it'd taken her about forty-five minutes to one hour before she'd managed to fall asleep every night. And now she'd been in bed since ten, feeling completely exhausted, and almost two hours later, unsconsciousness was in no ways nearer than it'd been when she'd first gone to bed. It was really annoying, especially because she wasn't quite as attentive in class.
It took a few more minutes before she got fed up. Sighing, she pushed her covers back - or more like kicked them off - and got out of bed as silently as she could, seeing as Vanessa was asleep, or at least she looked it. Lucky girl. She tiptoed her way to her desk, opening the first drawer and grabbing a pair of big, comfy socks, putting them on and looking around for her jacket. She needed some fresh air, but she didn't want to get changed anyway. Her pyjama pants were the kind she wore in winter, and they were warm enough for the cool fall night. As she spotted her jacket, she grabbed it along with the scarf and put both on, leaving the gloves in her pockets in case her hands got cold and grabbing a pair of sneakers without putting them on just yet, not wanting to make any noise. Then, as an afterthought, she walked back to her bedside table and took the room key that lay on it, figuring that if Vanessa woke up and saw the door unlocked, she might go and lock it back. She really didn't want to be stuck outside all night in that case - better safe than sorry.
Once out of the dorm building, which considering how good the security was hadn't been very hard, she put on her shoes and started walking along the school grounds. She figured that this probably wasn't the best thing to do, because the cold air helped to push back the sleepiness even more, which wasn't really the intention in the first place, but then again, here or inside she just couldn't fall asleep. Actually, she'd been that way since Halloween, mostly since the Slumber Party though it'd increased all through the week. She felt an added tension whenever she hung out with Milo now, which she just couldn't understand. Especially when they were alone and not really making out or doing anything physical, then it was at its strongest. A lack of comfort, almost. She wondered why, but she didn't really want to ask him either, because she was scared of what his answer might be as much as what his reaction might be. Shaking her head a bit, she walked up to the nearest tree and sunk to the ground next to it, leaning back on the trunk and resting the back of her head against it, staring at the stars. What was the matter with her?
