Cara signed out of her IM and sighed. It was still kind of early in the afternoon, about two thirty or so. Thankfully, it was a Saturday so it was OK for her to be still laying on her bed in her PJs. She looked down at her freshly painted French manicure nails, and saw that some of the tips were chipped. Cara quickly put on another coat of pink nail polish on the tips of her finger nails. That was much better. She quickly looked over at the clock and gasped. She was supposed to go and met Joel to give him his birthday present and his Christmas present. Not even giving her nails time to dry, she ran over to her closet and started throwing shirts all over the floor trying to find the right one to wear. All of them seemed like she had worn them a million and six times before. Finally, after what seemed like throwing three hundred different shirts on the floor, Cara picked one off the hanger to put on. It was a pretty simple shirt. It was pink with small white snowflakes all over it. She hoped Joel wasn't sick of seeing her in pink, because it seemed as though that was the only color she ever wore. Walking over to her laundry basket, she pulled out a pair of jeans, and put those on, too. Cara then brushed her hair up into a high ponytail and put all of her makeup on. She looked at the clock and saw that it was two fifty-five. Looking around her room, she saw that both of his presents were sitting on Holly's bed. How did they get there? She couldn't remember, but then just picked them up and ran out of her room.
It wasn't until she was outside that Cara remembered that she had left her sweatshirt up in her dorm room. Damn. She could not believe how cold she was right now. Thank God that the boys’ dorm was not too, too far away. Her hands started to shake, and she didn’t want to drop the gifts. Cara didn’t think that they’d break, but you never know with her. She is always breaking things that were not supposed to break. As she walked, well, sort of ran, over to Joel’s dorm, she hoped that he would like what she got him. Shopping was one of the things that Cara was very good at. She never was one to look at a price tag; she just bought it and didn’t think twice about it. Some might call that being spoiled, but Cara didn’t think of it like that. She did not want the price of something being the one reason why she didn’t buy it. Plus, she was not the one paying for it. Sure, it was on her credit card, but her mom and Daniel said that they’d pay her credit card bill just as long as she got good grades. She was so thankful then she finally got to the boys’ dorm building. Freezing didn’t even begin to explain how cold she was. She was still shivering as she reached Joel’s room. It was not five past three, and she hoped that Joel wouldn’t mind that she was five minutes late. Actually, Cara bet that he would tease her about it. But it wasn’t her fault she was always late for everything! She knocked on his door, still shivering from being outside for so long without a sweatshirt or anything.
