Christmas wasn't quite a holiday Nathan overly appreciated. In fact, if he had a say in it, he wouldn't even celebrate Christmas, because it was pretty much the one holiday he disliked most. But then, his parents were pretty much addicted to the holiday, so he didn't exactly have the heart to tell them he didn't want to get involved or even stay at the Academy, especially after all they'd done for him. But he just dealt with it and usually it was over before he had to suffer too much. And well, they did know his tastes well enough and it was never quite that bad getting new stuff, it it wasn't for the fact that he just didn't like that tradition. He wasn't a believer or anything, but it annoyed him how a lot of holidays had lost their original meaning and become so commercial. Easter was about chocolate now, when had that happened? And Christmas was just presents for most people. Sure, some people still put the original meaning as most important, but there were just so few of them now it annoyed him really bad. And once again the government and big companies won.
He shook his head a bit to himself as he dug in his pocket for his key, holding a small bag of stuff he'd brought back with him, most of his things having stayed at the Academy during his leave. He wondered how Elijah was doing now, too. After all, he hadn't been all that well when he'd left, letting himself go quite a bit, and if it'd been someone with the same feelings intensity but not quite the same personality, he would be worried to find his roommate dead once he crossed the door. But he was definitely glad to see it was not the case and that the room didn't look half as bad as it had when he'd left. "Hey man," he said, entering the room and closing the door behind him before walking over to his desk, dropping his keys on it and tossing his bag on his bed. "What's up?" he asked, wondering if he'd fixed things with the girl he'd been pining over or if he'd just gotten over her or found someone else. Or well, decided not to let himself be washed over by depression, that was an option too. Either way, he looked loads better so something good must have happened along the way.
