Kimmy could hardly believe she had ten days left before she'd be headed for Fort Jackson. She'd met with a recruiter and done the needed tests and such a few days before, and she'd decided that she wanted to spend her last week and a half with Bretton. She'd had a talk about it with her mom and she'd agreed that it seemed like a reasonable thing to do, so she'd agree with Brett that she'd be coming over to his brother's house, and from there she'd be leaving for South Carolina. She hadn't brought much luggage with her, and most of it would be mailed back home before she left for basic training seeing as most civilian possessions were taken away from recruits when they started their training. She'd looked up at much information as she could about basic training, knowing that she'd need to prepare herself mentally for it, but mostly she wasn't someone who was easily affected by others, so the thought of being yelled at day and night didn't bother her too much. Actually, had there not been Bretton in her life, she didn't think much of it would have bothered her.
But he indeed was in her life, and now that was the thing that she knew would be hardest for her. Being away from him for so long. She hardly knew how she would stand it, but she would pretty much have to. Of course, she was going so that she could get into College, and so she wouldn't be away as long as other people might be, but it was still a minimum of thirteen weeks or so without seeing him. It wasn't as though she had much of a choice though, and she would write to him as often as she could, and call him whenever possible. It wouldn't be much but it'd have to do. And then she would make as much out of those ten days as she possibly could. She was definitely glad to get off the plane once it landed, not overly liking planes but then it would have taken two days to get there by car or bus so it wasn't even to be considered. It didn't take too long to get her bag from the luggage claim, slinging it over her shoulder as she made her way to the spot where she figured she'd be meeting Brett, glancing around in an attempt to try and spot him among the crowd.
