As soon as Ayla had managed getting away from home, she'd packed up her things and jumped on a bus headed from San Francisco to Los Angeles, having made sure that her aunt and uncle didn't mind her staying over at their place for about a month during the summer. The only reason she'd be headed back home would be to get all her stuff ready to leave for school, and that was the way she liked it. Things at home were usually pretty tense - she felt bad for Ken about it, he was the youngest and it seemed harder on him than on the others. Bridget was pretty tough and Benjamin was a quiet kid, and then Charlie was always hanging out with friends or with their cousins. She sometimes just couldn't understand how her dad could even put up with her mom, but it was obvious that there had to be something there otherwise he would have divorced her years ago. Yet he still looked at her like she was the only woman in the world, even when she accused him of doing everything wrong and when she was just being a bitch to everybody in the household.
She'd been in the Edwards household for about two weeks now. Holly had left a few days ago to go put her appartment in Kansas City in order, and Vicki had been gone before that on that road trip to Florida Holly had talked of. It wasn't weird, though, she was used to spending some alone time with her aunt and uncle and it was actually a lot more pleasant than spending some alone time with her own mother. Though to be honest, her aunt and uncle weren't actually around all that much most of the time, so it was almost as if she had a place to herself. It felt great, too, she definitely enjoyed being able to just relax, without hearing arguments or other sort of noises. Like right now, her aunt and uncle had decided to go out for dinner and a movie. It was actually nice to see that, how much they still enjoyed going out together. She couldn't really think of times her parents went out much together, they both worked too much. She was admittingly a bit bored though as she sat in the living room after putting on a movie, not really paying that much attention to it.
