Addie was actually pretty eager to get home with her friends and boyfriend. For one thing, it'd be the first time she got to introduce Connor to her mom, and she wasn't the least bit worried as to whether it would go over well or not. She knew her mom would just end up loving Connor, probably in a rather embarrassing manner too, like with Milo. She really spoiled the guy, but then she knew it was partly because she was aware of the fact that he no longer had a mother and his dad was a jackass, so she tried to compensate. Either way, if that was her reasoning for Milo, her reasoning for Connor would be that someday he would be her son-in-law she might as well start treating him like a son already. As for Taylor, whom she'd already briefly met over the summer, her excuse had been that there was no way anyone in their right mind could not mother such a sweet girl. By the end of the day, she'd probably have learnt of all their favorite meals and desserts to make sure she'd be able to make them whenever they came to visit again, which she would obviously urge on.
Watching her mom act that way with her friends, and now her baby brother, sometimes made her feel a bit bad. She knew her mother would have loved a big family, but with a sick child she just hadn't wanted to risk having another kid, or she'd figured she wouldn't have the time to take care of it properly. Either way, she did feel it was partly her fault that she'd been an only child for most of her life, and now her mom was trying to compensate by mothering her friends. Still, she seemed happy enough, and that especially since Patrick had entered her life and Collin too, and seeing her mother happy was definitely something that made her feel happy too. She was rather impatient as she drove the short amount of time to her house, keeping an eye on Milo and Taylor in the back seat so he wouldn't start doing something he shouldn't be doing while there were other people around, one hand on the wheel as her other hand held onto Connor's, resting on her knee. "Alright kids, we're almost there," she said as she turned onto her street, parking in front of her house a few minutes later.
