Gabe made his way down the halls of the girls' dorm building, not for the first time for the purpose in which he was there today. Today he was planning on giving Violet back that promise ring that she'd thrown off after the whole fiasco in his dorm room. Now, some people might have looked down on him for taking so long to even get it back to her but really it hadn't been his fault. Okay, part of it was his fault because he really hadn't been sure at first on what he even wanted to do. Still, once he'd decided it and tried to give it back he'd ran into problems. The main problems? Her sister and her roommate. He couldn't go near her any time at all during the school day, since everyone was careful to steer her in the opposite direction of wherever he might be and if he did try going up to them he'd probably get hit or something. And then when he'd tried to give it back to her at her dorm each time her roommate Brooke answered the door, glared at him and slammed it right back in his face again, which didn't exactly get things done.
Today he was hoping that Brooke wouldn't be the one to answer the door though because really, it was starting to suck getting the door slammed in his face. Everyone just assumed that he was there to do something bad but he really wasn't. What harm was there in returning a ring to the rightful owner of it? When did doing the right thing become the exact wrong thing to do? He shook his head a bit, figuring that he wasn't going to try and understand girl logic; it was in his experience that none of it ever made any sense anyway. He stopped in front of the door that he'd become a bit familiar with lately, knocking on it and silently waiting for someone to come and answer. He took the ring out of his pocket and played with it slightly, praying silently that it would be Violet who answered the door this time instead of her crazy roommate. Why did everyone around the girl have to be some level or another of crazy? It made his own life so much more difficult than it would be if she had normal people surrounding her instead.
