Addie knew Connor wasn't overjoyed to be spending part of his fall break at home, but at the same time she knew that no matter if the encounter with his mom went good or bad, at least now he'd have set things straight. She could understand that the way he was being treated wasn't fair, but he couldn't just leave things hanging either. Any real friend would be advising him to do the same thing. After all, they weren't talking about just anyone right now, it was his mother and she wouldn't just disappear from his life because he'd decided he was angry with her. Besides, now was the perfect time to do that considering the fact that Owen was spending the break at the Academy and so he wouldn't have to deal with his step brother on top of it all. Not that she would have minded him being there, but she was pretty sure that for Connor it wouldn't have helped anything, and she'd actually had a small talk with the other guy to make sure he had no intention of heading home, which he might have to meet his little sister after all, but apparently it wasn't the case.
She sat next to him as they rode in the cab, resting her head on his shoulder in a slightly tired fashion. They'd been up pretty early to catch the plane so any sleep she was able to get back was welcome, even if at the same time she wanted to stay awake for him. She yawned lightly as she reached to hold onto his hand with one of hers as she dragged her other fingers across the back of his hand lightly, letting them drift up to his elbow lightly from time to time. She was a bit nervous too, admittingly, at the idea of meeting his mother, and well, she figured his step dad too, though if she mentioned that to him he'd probably tell her not to care about the other guy because he didn't matter. But apparently he mattered to his mother so that made him kind of important. And she couldn't deny the fact that she was a bit eager to meet his little sister too, and she wanted to make Connor realize that he couldn't take his resentment at his mother's choices onto the innocent little girl. He was her big brother and she would grow up seeing him as such. He couldn't get out of that either.
