Addie had never really overly cared for Christmas. Of course, it was fun enough, but as a kid it'd just been yet another day that she spent in the hospital, and her parents hadn't had much money for presents so at the end of the day it just wasn't something she'd gotten overly excited about, most of the time. It'd changed a bit when she'd moved to Kansas with her mom though, because her dad's family was more into celebrating Christmas and such, and then when she'd gotten more friends at the Academy it'd made it that much better too. Then, last year had been pretty much amazing with Connor and the promise ring and just everything. And this year... well, she didn't think there were words to describe this year. This year, she had an amazing baby brother, she was engaged, her friends were all doing well and were happy, and most important of all... Connor was alive. Connor was healthy, he was on his way to doing better and the only thing he really still showed for his trouble was the cast on his broken leg and a few cuts and bruises that still lingered.
Seeing Connor's condition, it'd been decided that he would be better off not taking a plane or anything just yet, and so Addie's mom had decided to invite him along with his parents over. Of course, Emily had also extended the invitation to Milo because she always did, and to Elijah though she knew the boy would probably want to spend Christmas home - she'd still told Addie to tell him that he was welcome to stop by and grab a few slices of pie whenever he got on his way home. The house would be packed - Emily and Patrick had left their own bedroom for Martha and Christopher, and of course Addie slept in her bedroom with Connor. They'd given the guest room to Taylor and Milo and had decided to camp out on the pull out couch in the basement - and if Elijah and his girlfriend decided to spend a night rather than just a little bit in the house, the couch in the living room could also be pulled out for them to sleep on. It was the morning of the twenty third, two days before Christmas, and pretty much everything was settled at this point - the three up, most of the cooking done that could be done early, and more presents under the tree that Addie could remember seeing. The most amazing and important present to her though was the guy who currently slept in her bed next to her, her head resting on his chest lightly as she watched practically his every movement.
