Owen was on his way back to his mom's house with Cassandra. He hadn't been sure who he was going to spend Christmas with, but he'd decided that this year would be a good time to spend with his mom since his dad and Martha were staying with Addie and her family in Kansas City because of everything that had happened to Connor. Even though the two guys didn't get along well he was still happy that the other guy hadn't actually died or lost his memory or something and he had actually went to visit him a couple of times in the hospital even though he doubted that the other guy would have cared if he'd known. He had stopped by Addie's house before they had gotten on the plain to Vermont, so that he would be able to see that he'd seen his dad and Martha and Sophie while they were there. He'd also taken the time to briefly introduce Cassandra to his dad and step-mom who had seemed to like her well enough in the short time that they'd been there which was a good sign because he did want his family to approve of his girlfriend.
Now they just had to meet his mom and hopefully she'd feel the same way. He sat in the back set of a cab with Cass, glancing out the window as they started to get a bit closer to where the house was. He grinned slightly as the cab stopped in front of his mom's house, paying the driver and getting out of the car as he looked at the house. When his mom and dad had divorced she'd gotten to keep the house and so this was the house that he'd grown up in, where he'd taken his first steps and said his first words. This was the house that held a lot of memories for him and for his mom as well he was sure, which made him wonder sometimes while she kept it instead of selling it. He was kind of glad that she hadn't though as he turned to his girlfriend once he'd grabbed their bags out of the trunk. "Ready?" he asked her with a slight smile. "Everything will be fine. Don't worry." He walked up the pathway with her and then pushed open the door, setting their bags right inside of it. "Mom?" he called out, glancing into the living room and not seeing her.
