Drake had never celebrated Christmas ever since the age of nine. He wasn't really that much of a believer, so to start with that holiday had never held a strong religious meaning to him, and so it'd mostly always been celebrating family time together and getting presents and all that good stuff. And ever since his father had passed away, he felt like celebrating Christmas was against what he should do. It was a mourning time to him, and he treated it as such. His mom still tried to pull it off, for Brianna, because she'd been pretty young when their dad had died and so, though she missed him in a way that she knew she didn't have a father and she remembered getting treats and piggy rides and being told bedtime stories by him, mostly all of her friends around her talked about Christmas decorations and Christmas presents and all those things, and it would be unfair to her to deprive her of that. He knew his mom's heart wasn't really into it, he'd always known it, but he'd never been able to go home and be with her. And he realized how selfish that was. So this year... well, he'd decided to suck it up and go.
And so he would be leaving the next morning, though he didn't have too long a distance to travel, but first he wanted to stop by Rose's dorm to get her something. The box he held in his hands was the first present he'd ever knowingly given anyone - he might have made drawings and such when he was a little boy to give to various members of his family - because... well, he didn't really know why he'd gone against what he usually did, though he'd told her he didn't want a present, and he'd been serious enough about it that he didn't think she would go against what he'd asked her to do - or at least he hoped so, because he would feel the obligation to refuse anything she got him. And even what he'd gotten her wasn't really that amazing, but he'd just wanted to get her something, maybe to show her that he cared. Maybe he could call it a non-Christmas present. After all, he'd wrapped it in the most un-Christmassy wrapping paper he could find. Oh well, he'd have to wait and see how that goes, sighing lightly as he stood in front of her dorm room and knocked lightly.
