Let It Snow {Elijah}

Roxie had known from the very start that Christmas at the Emersons had to be different to what Christmas was like at her own place. Really, at home, there wasn't so much of decorations and such, and presents were minimal. Not because they didn't have the money or anything, but because her grandmother disapproved of the whole present giving and receiving aspect that had been given to a holiday which was, to her, purely religious still. And Roxie as well as her siblings had always had that notion drilled in their heads, and to her it'd always mainly been the birth of Jesus that they celebrated, more than presents, but as they'd grown older and met people who viewed things differently, it'd changed a bit. She still tried to see the religious celebration first and foremost when Christmas came along, but now she also saw it as a celebration of family and friends, showing them how much you loved them and appreciated them, and of course presents were nice when you got them, and when you saw the face of those you'd given it to lit up from excitement.
Especially this year, with Clara and Trissy. She'd been awoken pretty early by the youngest girl - which had made her glad she and Elijah had thought of that possibly happening and had made sure she wouldn't find them naked or anything, since the guest room was taken up by Oliver and Abigail and so she'd found herself sharing Lijah's bedroom, not that she minded obviously. Opening presents had definitely been great with the two little girls and then the whole of the morning too, eating breakfast, the cheerfulness in the house - though there was a strain in Abby's actions, but she knew enough, if not all because it wasn't any of her business and she respected that, to understand. And as soon as breakfast had been over and new toys had been played with enough, Clara and Tristan had decided playing outside was the best thing to do. Personally, playing in the snow had never been a favorite activity of Roxie's, but saying no to those two angels was not something she was capable of doing, which was the reason why she currently stood outside, coat and snow pants on along with gloves, hat and scarf, though it didn't keep her from shivering slightly from the cold air blowing at her face.
