Sam sighed to himself as he walked across the school ground in a much slower pace than the last time he'd been headed to the Academy. His reluctance didn't have anything to do with the feelings he felt for Beth - he was upset, yes, but that didn't change the fact that he loved her, more than he'd ever thought he'd even be able to love anybody, especially after what had happened to his dad. It'd just all seemed so pointless to him then, loving someone and then just having to see them go away like that, seeing his mother being left behind and being so lost without him. She still was too, Sam knew that - she'd just gotten much better at hiding it. So, to him, falling in love with someone had just been... well, it hadn't been easy really, not so much the act of falling in love, but allowing it to happen, allowing himself to get close to someone, and actually admitting it to himself too. And he'd thought he'd done a pretty good job of it, of showing his love to her, of making her trust him and have faith in him. And then her believing so fervently that he would just go and cheat on her... it was definitely a blow.
But staying away from her wasn't the way to do things, that he knew, even though he hadn't wanted to face it in the past few days. He was still upset and hurt, and going over to see her would mean thinking about all of it over again, and even just thinking of that made him angry once more. But there was no denying that he missed her, and he knew that they had to fix things, because no matter his upsetness, he didn't want to lose her. She was too important, mattered too much. She was too big a part of his life and occupied too big a place in his heart for him to just... let this relationship go to waste. Especially not when he'd been thinking about taking it all to the next level. Allowing his thoughts to run free in his head - because at least it kept him from focusing on the main reason of this all, which helped keep his anger in check - he made his way inside the girls' dorm building and over to Beth's room, standing in front of it without moving for a few seconds, just staring at the closed door before he took in a deep breath and gave a few quick knocks, placing his hand on the doorframe and leaning forward slightly as he waited for her to open.
