Owen's happiness for this holiday came from three different sources. The first being that he was out of the hospital, though he did have lots of medication that he had to take and he wasn't allowed to walk long distances, nor was he allowed to do heavy lifting or any strenuous physical activity - which was a bit of a downer, but the whole leaving the hospital thing was still great. The second source of his happiness came from the fact that his immediate family was all in Kansas City for the holidays. His Dad, Martha and Sophie were all going to be staying with Addie's family and his mom was going to be staying at a hotel that was in the city. Of course, he'd be spending Christmas Day with his mom, just because that was always how things were done - not to mention that it'd be kind of awkward spending it at Addie's house. Not for him, but because of the third source of his happiness. That source being his girlfriend spending the holidays with him, just as she had the year before. As it was, he was pretty sure that she wouldn't be too thrilled spending time with his mom - despite the fact that she was a lot more accepting of the actress since hospital.
Overall, just the whole idea of Christmas was an exciting one for him and he had lots of reasons to find it so. Which was why he was pretty happy when he woke up on Christmas morning, his girlfriend still sleeping in his arms. Last night he'd put her present under the small table tree that he had set up in his room. It wouldn't be until later in the day that they'd go and visit his mother, so as soon as Cassandra woke up the two of them would be able to exchange presents. Though, he did have another thing that he wanted to give her - which he hadn't placed under the tree since he doubted that she would consider it much of a present. Still, it was probably part of the day that he was looking forward to most. For now though he stayed in bed, letting his fingers gently run along Cassandra's side as he placed a kiss on the top of her head. Yes, this was certainly a good way to start Christmas out, and hopefully a way that he'd be starting out many Christmases in the future as well if he'd be lucky enough to have her in his life that long.
