Unexpected {Evie}

Wednesday was not Ian's favorite day of the week in the slightest. For one thing, it was the one day he had to go through his most boring classes at school, mostly some that didn't have much to do with music, at least not in a meaningful manner. And then, it was also the only day of the week that he had school until evening, never really getting home until half past six or even seven, and so also the only day he actually got back after Evie. He didn't have classes on Thursdays, got off early on Fridays and generally was home around the same time as her on Mondays and Tuesdays, so those weren't too bad. Still, he was hoping that next year, he would be lucky enough that his day off - if he had one again, since he couldn't take it for granted that he always would - would fall on the same day as hers, if she had one too. Of course, they had weekends, but a lot of times those were filled with homework and assignments that had to be worked on before Monday morning, and it didn't leave a very large amount of time for him to just sit down and relax with his wife. He wasn't complaining - he still considered his life to be very near perfection right now, with her in it. He just wished he would be able to have more alone time with her.
As it was, he was hoping this weekend would offer them an opportunity to do just that. Sure, it was still two days away, but as he walked home from school, it was nonetheless the only thing on his mind. He had planned on using up his whole day of tomorrow to do anything that needed to get done before the beginning of the week to come, and if he got more assignments on Friday, he would surely have more time once the weekend was over to get it done. The walk home from school didn't take much time, generally only ten to fifteen minutes, and so he'd decided that, unless there was a downpour or a snowstorm, walking would be the way to go. Still, he picked up his pace as he did so, eager to get back to his wife so that they could spend the rest of the evening together, wondering if he ought to have called her to ask if she wanted him to pick up some take out on the way or if she'd started on something for dinner, or at least decided what she wanted to eat, but seeing as he was already more than halfway there, he decided it would be pointless, soon reaching their apartment building and walking up the stairs to their place, pushing the door open and looking around for Evie. "I'm home," he called out to her, hanging his coat and getting rid of his boots.
