The sound of her roommate loudly moving about the dorm woke Marissa up from her deep slumber. She cursed the girl under her breath. Groaning, Marissa climbed out of bed just as her roommate left and started on her morning routine that consisted of showering, brushing teeth and washing face. Marissa had a great vacation with her dad back home. They did the father-daughter bonding thing, which was a little awkward at first because they never actually did anything like that before, but it got better. It was much harder to leave this time around than before, but she still got on the greyhound bus to head back to school. She made it one piece and unpacked as soon as she got to her dorm not wanting to delay in that because if she didnât do it now, it probably would never get done before classes started up. As soon as she finished up in her room, she pretty much passed out on her neatly made bed, snuggling into the pillow. It was a very long ride and she hadnât enjoyed it one bit being stuck with a screaming four year for a back yard neighbor who liked to kick her seat and a rock-star wannabe with headphones that blared with heavy metal, which she still heard no matter how low of volume he put it too. So, it was safe to say she hadnât gotten much rest.
And apparently, that was right, seeing as she slept the rest of the day through up til this morning. Marissa felt completely refreshed now as she changed into a pair of jeans, a knit sweater and boots. She had managed to see a few of her friends yesterday, making small talk about their vacations and what they got for Christmas - pretty customary. It was about brunch time when she left the building, but she decided she wasnât very hungry as she crossed the courtyard, not really taking notice of her surroundings and headed towards another building where she knew the ice rink was located. Her dad had taken her to one over the break and they had a blast. She wasnât the greatest ice skater in the world, but she enjoyed it, this was a sport she could handle - better than swimming anyway. That was a memory hard to get rid of and sheâd been meaning to thank Nolan for saving her, but wasnât really sure how to approach him about it. She sighed once inside, spying a few others here, but not anyone she knew as she went and got a pair of skates in her size and then sat down to change out of her boots.
