Mandy had gotten picked up by Aidan before he went on the drive that he felt like going on. It had been a great day for one too, bright and nicer than it had been in the days past. She'd talked with him as they drove along, just enjoying the day and being with her fiance. It was just another fun activity to do together, carefree and enjoyable like every other time they just went out to do something random together. It was something that she'd always enjoyed about their relationship and really something that had been necessary for their relationship to survive the start when anything physical was pretty much off bounds. No matter what they did, she always had fun with him. She was convinced that nothing would ever go wrong on such days. How could anything when the world was so perfectly happy? Apparently, things could go wrong very easily because it didn't take much more than a distracted driver searching for something that they'd dropped on the floor instead of paying attention to the road and certainly not minding their speed one bit.
She'd always heard that accidents were something that seemed to happen in both a split second and an eternity. It'd never made any sense either, until it was happening. It seemed to take forever once she realized that they were going to get hit no matter what Aidan tried to do, her brain working in overtime and catching onto the way that the car was moving closer. She'd even realized what Aidan was going to, but it was too fast for her to stop it. Before she knew it the car had collided head first with their own and while she could feel a whole lot of pain from pretty much everywhere in her body, her mind rushed with adrenaline and she realized that Aidan had taken the majority of the blow for her. Immediately she started panicking, crying his name and trying to make sure that he was okay despite her own injuries. Even after the ambulance arrived she couldn't stop herself from struggling slightly as she cried. The paramedics actually having to give her meds to put her to sleep.
It wasn't a surprise then, that after she'd woken up later on in the hospital she'd done something that was uncharacteristic of her. She'd flat out demanded that she be able to get dressed, get checked out and go see her fiance. Luckily, the doctors agreed that she was well enough not to need to stay longer because the trauma had been close to minimum on her part thanks to what Aidan had done. Luckily, they had also allowed her wish of going to see Aidan. The second that she walked into the room though she couldn't help, but tear up as she looked at him laying in the bed. Guilt overtaking her as she moved to the side of his bed and pulling up the chair close enough that she could reach and grab his hand. "Please, please be okay," she quietly pleaded, her voice shaking as she looked at his unconscious form. Tears already streaming down her face as she brought his hand up to her lips and kissed it. There was no way that she'd be moving until he was awake and okay.
