Nate had left Kansas City around half past eight that morning, having gone to bed earlier than he usually did so that he could wake up around seven and be ready to leave before nine. After having eaten breakfast and gotten showered, he'd grabbed the bag in which he'd packed up some of his stuff to bring along and he'd left the city in direction of Chicago, hoping he wouldn't encounter any problems on the road or that the rental car he'd gotten the day before wouldn't give him any trouble. The drive there was admittingly rather boring, but the knowledge that by the end of the day he would be with Felicia made it all worth it, and so he did his best to keep himself entertained with music, making as few stops as he possibly could, though using some of the time during his stop for lunch to call his girlfriend, letting her know where he was and giving an approximate as to around which time he should be getting there. Of course, he was bound to get stuck in some traffic once he got to the city, but he didn't think it would lengthen his trip by that much, and so he figured he was likely to get there around five in the evening, six at the very most.
His afternoon went on in the same way that his day had started, and as he'd predicted, it was about a quarter past five when he turned onto Felicia's street, making his way over to her house and driving up the parking lot, his excitement growing that much more at the knowledge that in less than give minutes, he would be holding his girlfriend in his arms for the first time in the past few weeks. It was really amazing just how much he could miss her in such a short amount of time - though, it really didn't feel short at all to him - and he just couldn't wait until school started back, figuring she was right in saying that from that moment on, they wouldn't really ever have to be apart unless they wanted to anymore. Of course, she still hadn't made her final decision about college, and once she did, he'd have to figure out a way to get to where she wanted to go if she didn't stay around KC, but he was confident enough that it wouldn't be that hard. For now, he couldn't bring himself to care about all of that though, turning the engine off and getting out of the car after grabbing his bag from the backseat, making his way up the path that lead to the front door at a quicker pace than usual.
