Mondays were never Mel's favorite days, even less when they were the Monday after a long weekend. Getting out of bed had been pure hell and she'd gotten up late, throwing on the first thing that she could find. Which happened to be the same blue jeans that she'd worn the day before and a baseball style top with Snoopy lying on a rainbow, which was on the top of her suitcase of clothes that had been washed and worn over the weekend. Oh well, it wasn't like anyone would know what she'd worn at home. Except Beth, who she had passed in the hallway between Dance and Math and who gave her a look that both judged her fashion decisions and had reminded her that her older sister - who wasn't even the most responsible person in the world - had warned her this weekend that if she tried to cram her homework into Sunday night, she would be up super late and would wake up late on Monday. Damn, she hated when she was proven wrong. Of course Beth had also looked impossibly put together. Curse her sister and how pretty she looked all the time.
At least after study period and lunch she was in a good mood because she'd had time to fully wake up and talk to Jessica over lunch and once the bell rung they started heading toward Languages, still chatting away. Admittedly, languages were not her favorite thing to learn, but they were still better than English Lit so that was something. When Ms. Bähr started talking she got quiet and turned her attention to the front of the class, almost groaning as she remembered that they were working on French right now, pulling out her notebook only to be told that she wouldn't need it quite yet. Feeling intrigued until her teacher said that they were going to have to do an original dialogue, though her interest spiked back up when she mentioned partners, turning to look at Jess. Of course that would be a terrible job, since neither of them were particularly skilled at languages, but at least they'd have fun. Then that bubble had to be burst when they were told that they'd be assigned partners, though she still crossed her fingers as she waited that she'd get someone who spoke French just as badly as she did. "Melanie Williams and Olivier Perreault." She sighed. Of course, just when she thought there was no way to make her French seem even worse than it was.
