Tasha had been out shopping for most of the afternoon, looking around for a dress to wear at her holiday party. It was the first time she actually had to dress up for Christmas, and the shocking facotr was that her dad had asked her to do it. Of course, she was well aware that the idea hadn't sprouted in his own head - his new girlfriend had put it there. Though not so new apparently, because even though she'd only just found out about her over the summer, they had been seeing each other for a year. One might think that would be important information to share with your teenage daughter, but it would seem not. They had wanted to wait until it was actually serious between them her dad had said, whatever that might mean. Well, coming in and making fancy Christmas plans seemed serious enough. To be sure, Tasha didn't really mind. Her dad had worked hard all his life and he deserved to be happy - besides, her mom had a new boyfriend practically every other month and that had never bothered her. She only wished he might have trusted her enough to let her know earlier on. And maybe it also had something to do with the fact that everybody around her, including her best friend, seemed to be getting into relationships... except for her, of course.
So, there might be a slight, very slight, possibility that she was a tiny bit jealous. Really, she was very happy for her friends, and she had been telling Tiffy that Fred wanted her for months now. Nonetheless, she couldn't help but feel envious of the relationship they had, and sometimes a bit resentful too. It seemed to her that all Tiffany had time for lately was her boyfriend, and that it was almost impossible to spend some time alone just with her best friend, talking and shopping and watching movies and then talking some more like they always did. She was, truth be told, probably being a little unfair and she knew it. She hadn't asked Tiffy if she wanted to come shopping with her today - she'd just assumed she would be spending the day with Fred, which had put her in a grumpy mood and she'd decided not to even double check that theory and go to the mall by herself. Of course she'd be spending the day with Fred, what else would a girl with a boyfriend do on a beautiful Saturday afternoon? Not that she would know anything about that. She gave a small sigh as she headed out of the mall, pulling her phone out of her purse to call herself a cab. She had just started dialing the number when some jackass bumped roughly into her, causing her to drop her phone to the ground as he just kept going on his way. "Asshole!" she called loudly after him, reaching down for her phone with a huff, hoping it wouldn't be broken.
