Coming back to Kansas City was always a bit of a conflicting matter for Val. She was always sad to be leaving her family behind, because she loved them all and missed them a lot over the course of the year - at least, for the most part - but then she was also happy because she loved being in KC and at the Academy, and she had her friends there, not to mention Will, and she missed them when she was back in Davenport. Sometimes it made it really hard to be happy about the fact that she'd chosen to go to a boarding school, because if she hadn't done that then she wouldn't be in this mess, but at the end of the day, she really wouldn't want anything else. Gordon Parks really had helped her improve her skills in so many ways, and though she'd never really gotten bad grades per say, she still did much better now. There was really something to be said about the education that was given around this place. When it came down to it, she was pretty sure that she couldn't have been any happier staying back home than she was now, with all the good things that had happened to her in the past few years.
She had managed to convince her parents to let her head back to the Academy one day earlier than planned - which, Vince had helped her with some, considering the fact that Brooke herself had gotten back to Kansas City the day before - but she hadn't told Will about it, deciding to surprise him instead. She was definitely looking forward to seeing him again, having missed him so badly, but she still had to force herself to stop by the Academy first so that she could drop off her bag. She parted with Vince after sharing a cab ride with him, hurrying to the girls' dorm building as fast as she could and enjoying a very brief hug with Brooke, letting her know that Vince would probably be in here within the next ten minutes before heading on her way out, getting in another cab and giving Will's address. She was definitely thankful that it wasn't too much of a distance for a car ride, paying the driver and getting out once they got to her boyfriend's apartment building. She waved at the doorman on her way in, getting on the elevator to head up to Will's floor and smiling giddily as she walked up to his door, ringing the bell.
