Lindsey's vision of life and people had definitely evolved quite a bit ever since she'd started going to the Academy. She could still remember middle school, where people made fun of her because of the way she looked, the way she was dressed in the same clothes almost every day because they were all she had, how her hair was dirty because there had been no money that week to buy shampoo and the bottle was empty. Of course, she figured that if things had still been the same way while she went to the Academy, people probably still would have made fun of her. But toward the end of last year, she'd taken the decision to financially emancipate herself from her father, and she'd warned him that if he even tried to say no because having a kid gave him more money, she would make sure people knew how he lived and how he'd treated her. Things hadn't gone very smoothly but in the end, she'd gotten what she wanted, and it had definitely helped with her scholarships too. Now she got enough money to cover her whole tuition and board, on top of some of the required school material.
Of course, that wasn't all that had helped. Her friends had played a very big part in the way she was now, even just because of the fact that it had showed her she could actually trust people. And Kota... well, her relationship with Kota was amazing. She couldn't even begin to describe how being with him made her feel, and she didn't care. She'd also learnt that there were some things you didn't always need to put in words. She didn't think that she loved him just yet - wasn't quite that far gone, as far as she could tell - but she knew they were on a definite path leading down that road. She could feel herself falling for him more and more every day, whenever she spent time with him or spoke to him. In the earliest stages of their relationship, she'd been more hesitant, but now she took every chance she got to spend time alone with him, and tonight was no exception to the rule. Of course, she knew she shouldn't be distracting him when he was having issues with his story, but if he said he needed to wait for inspiration to come whichever way, she figured there was no harm in her being there. After ending their IM conversation, she'd made her way over to the guys' building as fast as she could without actually running, sneaking inside and making it to his room before softly knocking at the door.
