Ayla's second pregnancy had been so different from her first that it wasn't even comparable. Of course, she figured the fact that this one had been planned, that they were financially stable and, most importantly, not in high school, would do that as far as stress factors went. Still, even in terms of the way she'd felt, it'd gone by a lot more smoothly. She'd had some morning sickness, but it'd passed pretty quickly and hadn't been quite as relentless as during Shawn's pregnancy. She'd also just felt a lot happier and calmer throughout the whole of it, and she'd been able to prepare for everything at a good pace. Shawn was beyond excited to be a big brother, and he'd taken to kissing her belly goodnight at bed time, which pretty consistently made her tear up - which, she could probably only partly blame on the pregnancy hormones. Of course, there was one thing that had to turn out to be the same, and apparently, it was the fact that their daughter was as eager to get out as her brother had been.
Which she found out as she woke up with a start around four in the morning, two weeks before her due date, wondering for a moment what had cause her to wake up so suddenly and wondering if Shawn was alright. Realizing, as she pulled the covers off to get out of bed and go check on him, that the reason probably actually had something to do with the wetness of the sheets, indicating that her water had broke. It took her a moment to process the information, the memory of the panic she'd felt when this had happened during her first labor nothing like the confusion she felt right now. Feeling a contraction hit just as she was starting to wonder if she was really in labor. "Ugh, there you are," she mumbled as she took in a feel deep, settling breaths. Getting out of bed, she figured she might as well start with cleaning herself up a bit, quietly making her way to the bathroom to do just that as she tossed her underwear and nightgown in the hamper. Returning to the bedroom so that she could put some clean clothes on, next removing the sheets off the bed, figuring the wash would have to wait until she came back to the hospital. Giving a bit of a sigh as she moved on to the next step, because she knew for a fact that her cousin would be less than pleased with her for waking her up at this time of night, but without knowing how far along she was, she couldn't really risk staying home with Shawn until it was a more reasonable hour for a wake up call. So, with that in mind, she opened the contacts on her phone and pressed Holly's name, hoping her cell wouldn't be on silent.
