He noticed that she'd looked away frown him with a light frown after he said most of the talk that was going around about him was true, and he wasn't overly surprised about it, though he was feeling a bit uneasy. For some reason, he didn't want her to think he was the worst bastard on earth, and what he was saying right now probably made him sound like one. He never cared about that, so why now? And why hadn't he just lied anyway? It wasn't as though it would have been the first time that he did, would it. But he just didn't want to start off by lying to her, and that in itself was quite surprising. He just hoped that she wouldn't just get back to her feet and leave the room now, just like he half expected her to do. Of course, she might have expected this in some way - he knew gossip was rarely true, but at the same time, did she really think every single thing that was being said about him was all crap?
He was a bit surprised when he saw her turning back to look at him again, almost as though she was examining him. He wasn't staring straight at her, he was still mainly looking at the ceiling, but he could see most of what she was doing by the corner of his eye, and though he was surprised she hadn't left, he was glad about it too. He didn't exactly know how to act anymore though, or what to say. He figured he might just wait until she spoke up herself, and then they'd go from there. This night was just turning out to be nothing like what he'd have expected. Not that he'd expected much anyway - he'd figured they'd both have gone back to bed a while ago, seeing how late it was, yet they were still here, talking about things he usually kept to himself. Weird.
Next thing that happened was nothing short of a shock to him, and definitely not the reaction he thought she'd have had. When he felt her hand reaching for his once more, her fingers intwining with his, he couldn't help but smile lightly though he was definitely surprised by the turn of situation. He listened to her as she spoke, giving a small nod as she mentioned it wasn't really anybody else's business but his and that everybody made mistakes. Of course, some of those mistakes he could have kept himself from doing, but he didn't mention that just now. Instead, he moved his hand a bit, hesitating a bit as he used his thumb to stroke the back of her hand a bit but figuring that she'd just ask him to stop if it made her uncomfortable in any way.
He turned his head slightly to look at her when she thanked him for hanging out with her, smiling a bit. "Nothing to thank me for, I enjoyed it just as much," he said with a smile. It was true, too. Here he was, practically pouring out his soul to this curious, attractive girl, and he considered it to be a great way to spend his evening. Maybe growing up didn't only happen in fairy tales after all. As she asked yet another question, he looked at her thoughtfully for a few seconds before answering. "Some things I would," he said with a slight nod. Some things for which he really did feel bad though he never told anybody about it. "And then some more, but probably for the wrong reasons," he added with a small smile. Like the whole Addison story - that one, he wouldn't take back because of whatever had happened that could be considered wrong, but mainly because of how it'd affected his reputation.
