There was definitely a strange, but good change going through Jess at this point. Her anger had washed away most of the moping, and Porter's answer had done away with the rest of it. She knew some people would probably think she shouldn't just take him back this easily, or even at all, and she would definitely understand where they were coming from because there was a part of her brain that was telling her maybe she should tell him he'd have to wait it out a little. That just seemed mean though, and inconvenient for her as well as for him, so she didn't plan on making him suffer or making him pay for what he'd done. Although it had been a stupid move, she figured he probably had been doing so good himself these past few weeks. Not that she could know for sure, but all things considered, she knew nobody could deny that Porter did care about her. There had been a self involved motivation to his actions, in his feeling that he would be unable to deal with it if something happened to her, but it had also had to do with the fact that he wanted to protect her, as such putting her safety above his happiness.
She couldn't help but wonder what would become of his original excuse, of his decision to move back to England for school, but she didn't really have any intention of bringing that up right now. They'd cross that bridge once they got to it - as far as she was concerned, his moving back to England, if that was still his plan, didn't phase her in the slightest, so it would all come down to if he could handle it. Admittedly, she would much prefer his sticking around the US for a couple more years, but she'd never had any intentions of pressuring him to do that when they'd first started dating, and that was still true to this day. Watching him as he moved his hands to frame her face and pressed a soft kiss to her lips, sending shocks of electricity to course through every single inch of her body, as if it was finally being awakened. Maybe she was stupid to take him back, but this felt amazing. She felt energized - she felt like herself. Listening to him as he spoke, though ever so slightly distracted by the way the feel of his fingers against her skin made it tingle as he asked for forgiveness. "A kiss would have sufficed," she told him with a light smile once he was done talking. "But I'll take the apology. And I do forgive you, because I don't like not having you around either," she added, swiftly moving herself against him so she could press her lips to his in a deep kiss, tightly wrapping her arms around his neck.
