PERSONALITY
Jake has always been a pretty easy going guy. He doesn't really enjoy a lot of conflict and therefore tries to avoid it. He won't keep his mouth shut when he has something to say, but he tries to say it in a way that won't make another person upset. And when conflict does arise he usually takes himself out of the situation. He refuses to ever get in the middle of conflicts between other people and always leaves them to work it out by themselves. When he himself is upset he'll let himself cool down by walking away before he goes back to work anything out. He likes to make his decisions with a clear mind and does his best to make sure that he will be able to do so.
He isn't an entirely jealous type of guy, since he's pretty well always been content with what he's had but sometimes he can be slightly possessive. Never in an overbearing way that could ruin anything for him, but in a sort of subtle, underlying way that people can sometimes catch glimpses of. This possessiveness can also be mixed into a natural protective nature. If he cares about someone, he does his absolute best to make sure that no one can hurt them in any way, shape, or form and tries to keep them away from anything that could get them into trouble.
He is an extremely passionate person and once something takes his interest it tends to keep it for quite a long time and the interest tends to grow even stronger. He gives everything that he has for anything that he does. He's never been one to skimp out on effort and truly believes that hard work creates success. He doesn't put a lot of stock into luck. Of course, he knows that he's gotten lucky in quite a few areas of his life, but he never takes that luck for granted and doesn't ever expect anything to happen for him just by luck alone. That's not to say that he doesn't hope that he'll be lucky sometimes, just that he doesn't expect to really get it.
APPEARANCE
Jake's looks easily reflect his heritage as many Italian features are seen right from the start. From his dark black hair that he prefers to wear longer, to his dark brown eyes and even his general features give it away. Though, one of the things most noticed about Jake happens when he smiles, besides his straight, white teeth he has a sagging lower lip due to nerve damage that he's had since he was born. It's nothing that he'd ever complain about though and if he did ever have to pick something about his physical features to dislike, it'd have to be his height. He's not exactly the tallest guy around standing at only 5'9" but what he lacks in height he makes up for with a muscular build.
He doesn't really own too many t-shirts since he doesn't very often get to wear them. Instead, a lot of his wardrobe consists of dressier button down shirts that he can wear to work. He owns a few pairs of jeans as well, but they too are pretty scarce compared to his other clothes. He prefers to make things as simple as possible when getting ready in the morning and therefore often achieves a pretty clean cut look by just going about the simple pattern he has set.
HISTORY
Jacob Michael Spencer was the seventh and final child to be born to parents Tanner and Adrianna Spencer on October 9, 1978 in Palermo, California. He would be joining an extremely loving family that was always looking out for one another. With five older sisters and one older brother, he would be quite well looked after and though, as he got older, he tried to look after them as well it never quite worked as well. At the time he was born there were already pretty large age gaps set into place to make such a thing more difficult. Kendra, the oldest, was already 15 going on 16 and Leah, the youngest, was 2. The rest fell in between; Daren at 13, Ashley at 8, Melissa at 6, and Emily at 5. With such a big family, and neither parent making an extremely large amount of money most of the kids didn't get a lot of newer things growing up.
Jake, was perhaps, a bit more spoiled than any of his older siblings had been because he was the baby of the family. Not only did his mom take to spoiling him, but some of his older siblings enjoyed to do so as well. Maybe that was why when he started taking an interest into film one summer is parents went out and bought him a camera of his own. Sure, it was used and it was hardly new but he thought that it was the best thing that he'd ever gotten and it was hard to get him away from it. He started dedicating large amounts of time into figuring out everything that he possibly could about films and how they were made and what made good ones.
During high school he realized that it was what he wanted to do for a living. He got himself a job to save up for a better camera and enrolled himself into some classes. Out of his small town he had to take a bus ride every other weekday to take the classes but he used that bus ride to get his homework done for school or to read a new book, since reading was his second passion. He kept advancing in his skill and soon graduated from high school before moving on to an art college to continue working with film, just as he'd started.
After graduation right on time from college as well, he made his way down to Los Angeles in search of work. He pitched his film ideas and showed off his work to anyone that would listen during his time off from busing tables at the restaurant that he worked at. He barely scraped by and his parents begged him to consider a different - and much more predictable - career choice. Under the student loans and high cost of living he was afraid that he might have to do just that before he was picked up as a director for a small film in a small company. He loved the job and the company actually happened to love him as well and he ended up going on to do several more films with the company, some of which ended up with a bit of recognition.
It wasn't too long after he started becoming a bit more well known that he received a call from the Academy, who was looking for a new film teacher. He was iffy about the idea, not sure that he wanted to take the job. He debated on it for a couple of weeks but finally decided that he would take the job and at least try it out, figuring that it might be nice to now for sure what he was doing and also to allow his parents to not have to worry about what he was going to end up doing. He started his job and found, much to his own surprise, not only that he loved it but also ended up finding the woman that he'd want to spend the rest of his life with.
