PERSONALITY
Andrew's not exactly a bad guy. He can be nice enough, but he can be a real pain in the ass when he wants too as well. Raised in a wealthy family with a little sister that wanted and got everything - not that he didn't get anything himself, obviously - he soon rebelled against his own identity, acting like anybody else might when walking in the streets, often heading to the places that aren't exactly the best to hang out in when so young. He soon adopted his bad boy's way of acting outside the house as the only way of acting he did have, even when he was back at the Preston manor (because, obviously, they couldn't own a small or normal house). Alcohol, drugs, sex, name it, he's probably done it, and does some still today. It's his way of trying to get his parents' attention off his sister and on him, his way to try and make them see he's not like them, and doesn't want to be - doesn't want to be a rich spoiled kid - he just hasn't chosen the right way.
Under his coarse outside appearance, he's actually a very nice and sensitive boy. He's just never let it show to anyone at all, except his sister sometimes, as they are closer than they let see - her especially. He just wants to live a normal life, be able to do what he wants to do - travel the world to take photographs from all the countries possible, and that with his own money. Most of the gifts his parents give them, he doesn't take. He's accepted a few, of course - who wouldn't when they give you the exact thing you want? - like his newest camera which he brings everywhere he goes. Photography his truely his real and only passion, and his sister has helped him practice a lot. It suits him well that she's one to be in front of the camera while he prefers staying behind it.
APPEARANCE
From the top of his 5 feet 11 inches, Drew is a very nice looking guy and his appearance has gotten him many dates, more than he's asked for even, though he doesn't exactly mind that when they're good looking and end up in his bed. He's not exactly superficial or vain, but being a photograph, he just loves pretty things, and it's the same when it comes to girls. With his shaggy unkept brown hair that often hides half of his face, including his green eyes, he still manages to be one of the most attractive guys anywhere he goes. Not exactly muscular, but not too thin or skinny either, he has a rather nice built and it's definitely not a bad sight when he takes off his shirt - which he doesn't exactly do all that often, but in some girls' opinion, the wait is more than worth it.
Though Andrew mainly prefers pretty things, he himself doesn't care much about his own appearance, especially when it comes to dressing. He's the kind to pick up the first clean thing he sees in the morning, mainly because he's never fully awake before three or four cups of coffee, and he usually keeps it really simple - a plain t-shirt, sometimes with a band logo or something of the sort, with jeans, maybe a jacket from time to time, rarely button up shirts but he does have a few, and that's pretty much it. He can wear the same outfit two or three days in a row without even knowing or noticing it, and even if he did he'd be far from caring. That's one of his main reasons for wanting to be behind of the camera - he's not a movie star or a model, he's just a simple teenage guy who doesn't like shopping for clothes.
HISTORY
On April 25th 1990, Andrew Kaleb Liam Preston (Jr.) was born to Andrew (Sr.) and Andrea Preston (nee James) in their large and well known residence of New York City. For three years, little Andrew grew up quietly and nicely, spoiled, yes, but not overly spoiled, cared for by an endless line of nannies as his parents were too busy to truely take care of him (hence the endless pile of gifts). Even as young as he was, Andrew couldn't exactly figure why his parents were away so often, but he learned to live with it and gave all the love he needed to give to the women who took care of him and gave it back quite freely. His three first years of life passed normally for a kid of his status and he was really a nice little boy who didn't give too much trouble to others and behaved nicely. A little while before he turned four, however, came a new surprise in his world that would later on change his way of acting.
When Cassandra Preston was born, everything changed. Of course, he couldn't be jealous - his parents didn't pay more attention to her than they had to him, but the nannies were now very busy taking care of the loud and demanding baby girl and Drew found himself alone most of his time, playing with the many video games he was given as peace offers. He took it for a while, deciding that there was nothing else he could do anyway. Besides, he was given more gifts than ever before, and for a five year old, it didn't seem too bad back then. As he grew older, however, he soon developped a feeling of anger and rebellion toward his parents. He, after all, was the first born. Why should this little girl be getting all the attention now? Strangely, he didn't feel any jealousy or hard feeling toward his sister - he knew it wasn't exactly her fault that she was getting all the attention now, though he was aware she asked for it a lot, but his parents were the ones to blame.
As he got older, his feelings of rebellion grew into actions. He started skipping school at merely twelve years old, going to see movies at the theater instead of going to class, or going shopping even, as his parents usually gave him much more money than necessary for his lunch at school (private school, obviously). Then one day, during those long days of walking around without really any goal, he came across a shop he's never entered before - a photography shop. In the front of the place, there were mainly frames, batteries, accessories for the cameras, stuff like that. But as he went further in the shop, he saw all the cameras and instantly knew he had to have one of those. He didn't tell his parents, simply saved some of his lunch money everyday until, soon after he turned thirteen, he was able to buy the most expensive and professional camera in the shop. It took him a while to figure out how it worked, but he got it by himself and then started taking pictures. Lots of them, anything, anywhere, whatever he wanted.
His new passion didn't make him stop his rebellion. At fourteen, he was known at school for being the one who skipped the most, had the most detentions, smoked, drank, did drugs and many other things. He was pretty much ruining his health and life at a young age, and his parents weren't doing anything about it - for the very simply reason that they didn't know, not paying enough attention to him to notice his change of attitude. This way of living went on for a few more months for Andrew, until he heard about Gordon Parks' Academy for the Arts, and one of the programs among that school especially - photography. Instantly, his behavior changed. He knew he'd have to be a model student to manage to even be considered, not wanting to take his parents' money, wanting to achieve it on his own, but he had to face the facts, it would be impossible to do on his own with his now very large school record. Soon before the end of the applications to get in for his freshman year, he went to his parents and asked them for the money. They hardly even payed attention to what he was saying, simply caught the words boarding school and Kansas City. There wasn't anymore to be said, and Andrew was signed up and accepted at the Academy. When he joined, he found a feeling of liberty he'd never had before and found that he didn't need to be such a bad boy anymore, but meanwhile some of his habits had stuck with him too hard to get rid of them. He still smokes from time to time, drinks quite a lot when he goes out and doesn't keep himself from flirting with girls, nor sleeping with the willing ones. But those who've managed to see past his outside know there's something more to him and wonder when he'll be able to let it out.
