PERSONALITY
From an outsider’s point of view, if Kimberly’s personality could be described with merely one word, it would surely be unapproachable. Add to that lack of trust, faith and confidence and you can get a fuller picture. She’s rarely seen with a smile on her face, because she doesn’t even want people to get near to her, nor does she want to speak to them either. She’s completely closed up on herself and ever since she joined Gordon Parks’, she’s not really had a real friend or someone to hang out with. She pushes away most people that come to her, and though she sometimes regrets it, she puts up a great show of not giving a care in the world.
Obviously, all of this roughness on the outside doesn’t necessarily extend fully to who she really is on the inside. Like most people would be if they didn’t have anybody to spend time with, she’s a very lonely girl and do tend to wish she had somebody to hang out with, but she’s too far gone by now – she doesn’t know how to be friends with someone anymore. Very bright, she’s a good student, if not very friendly, and she never disappoints her professors with the grades she gets.
As sweet inwardly as she is rough outwardly, Kimberly would never actually try to hurt somebody intentionally. She easily feels guilty about things that happen, and the main reason why she’s hardly spoken to her mother is because she can’t go near her without feeling like she’ll burst into tears in the middle of whatever she has to say. She’s not a mean girl, though she can sometimes seem like it because she hardly ever speaks to anybody or answers to what is said to her, though it’s not to a point where she ignores every single thing that’s said to her.
APPEARANCE
Standing at 5 feet 4 inches, Kim is not exactly your normal type of girl. There are a lot of debates between people as to know whether she’s pretty, beautiful, plain or just normal. Though she’s been known to dye her hair a brilliant shade of red during her early teens, she now keeps it to its natural color, blonde, shoulder length and wavy. Her blue eyes are definitely the features that strike people the most when they actually get to looking at her in the eyes, large and bright. With a pale complexion that looks as though she’s never seen the sun before, Kimberly is far from being an ugly girl, but what she can be called is still quite ambiguous.
Not one to dress up, she has a very plain, formless style. Baggy pants and large t-shirts, she wears anything and everything that will actually hide the fact that her body has shapes. The only times she can actually be seen wearing something that shows a hint of curves is during the talent shows, when she’s not allowed to what she wears normally. Makeup is something that is completely unknown to her, and she never really bothers doing anything fancy with her hair. She either lets it down or pulls it up in a ponytail.
HISTORY
Julia Nolan was merely seventeen years old when she gave birth to her first and only child, Kimberly Laurence Nolan, on the 30th of October 1990. Probably luckier than most of the teenage mothers like her, the guy who’d gotten her pregnant had actually stayed around during the pregnancy and all through Kim’s childhood. However, when he turned twenty-three, he decided to join the army though Julia was not all for it, but she tried to be supportive anyway, and soon he left, never to be seen again. As they were not married or anything of the sort, Julia simply had to deal with the fact that she and her six year old daughter had been abandoned by the man she loved, and she now had to find a second job in order to get some food on the table and all the things that were needed for the child’s care.
Though she worked full time in a small office as a receptionist and part time at a dinner as a waitress, she still always found the time to take care of the one thing that was most important to her in her life, always finding time to sing her a bed time lullaby, which was the only time during which she was now able to sing, she who’d once aspired to being a singer. Though Kim was merely seven years old, Julia was already planning a whole successful future for her daughter, with College and good grades and money. However, things did not go all exactly as planned. As soon as Kimberly hit the age of eleven, no matter how sweet and nice she’d been as a kid, she started closing up to everybody around her, her mother included, never letting anyone in her small bubble, keeping everything to herself. This worried Julia more than anything, seeing as she had no idea of what the child lived at school and so couldn’t understand the sudden change, and after she noticed a few similarities between her daughter and herself at that age, she started giving her restrictions, stricter rules and earlier curfews. Kim took that very badly, seeing as she couldn’t see a reason why she deserved all of this – she was simply trying to keep to herself and be given some peace.
Rebellion was the simplest option that presented itself to the young girl. Now at fourteen, she started hanging out with a hardly respectable crowd and soon grew bad habits. At this point, her mother was practically desperate and decided to look for boarding schools where her daughter could be educated without being distracted by guys and other things like that. When she found out about Gordon Parks’ Academy, she knew it would be the perfect place – Kimberly had inherited her talent for singing, but she was ten times better, charming practically anybody who ever heard her voice. Lucky for her, Kim was not as far gone to the point of screwing up her entire future by ditching school and not doing her work properly, and still had very good grades, which enabled her to a scholarship for the Academy. When she found out about it, Kimberly was beyond infuriated. She locked herself up in her bedroom for a whole week and would not come out when her mother was in the house, coming out only to wash herself and get something to eat. Against her will, she was sent to GPA on her first day of high school, but no matter how hard she tried to hate it, it wasn’t that simple. She actually adored it, it was more than she’d ever expected to experience in her life, and the possibility to improve her singing was amazing.
She had not, however, forgiven her mother yet about this. When she came back for the summer, she went back to the old group she usually hung out with, but being older now, she started trying a few things more than just making out and groping. She went back to Gordon Parks’ for her Sophomore year but soon got the proof that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Soon to be sixteen, she had, like her mother before, gotten pregnant. Unlike Julia, however, she didn’t have a father to help her through that time, and not even parents seeing as she was stuck at the Academy, living her pregnancy through practically the whole year until, early in the morning on April 3rd 2006, she gave birth to a small baby boy herself. She didn’t name him, didn’t even take a look at him. She’d long before signed up for the adoption papers, and she’d asked for the baby to be taken away as soon as it would be out of her body. Now entering her last year at GPA, she and her mother haven’t spoken since the summer before her Sophomore year, and she’s grown to be even more doubtful of other people as she was before.
