Dear Will,
Yes, I am aware that soon enough I will be there to see you graduate and though the idea of my little boy graduating seems insane, I wanted to write you one more letter of your high school career. Though, since you insist on going to college out in Kansas City I suppose I'll have plenty of other opportunities to write you in the coming years. I really wish you would change your mind and come back to school here, there are plenty of colleges that want to have you so badly. Princeton, Columbia, Amherst! They're all such amazing schools and your grandparents have connections at all of them. And then you'd be closer to home...
Chelsea has been telling us about the girl you plan to bring back with you, Valerie. From what I hear she'll have no problems fitting in and I can't wait to meet her. I can tell that she makes you happy and that's a great thing, Chelsea says that she'd really nice and I'm sure that she is. I'd like to say your father is excited about it as I am but he isn't. He thinks that you're going to lose focus with a serious girlfriend, but I know you and I know you'll manage both just fine, you're such a smart boy.
I've been very busy with stuff for the DAR lately, which is good. Helps to keep my mind off of the fact that soon my baby will be all grown up and away from home. You'd better come and visit during breaks and while I know you've probably made plans with your girlfriend this summer, I want you to spend time at home too. I feel like I never get to see you anymore. I know that is part of your growing up, but no matter how old you get you're always going to be my baby.
Even though I'll be seeing you soon enough I still expect a letter back, as is tradition and just because you're going to be a big college man soon does not mean you can start breaking it.
I love you,
Mom
