Dear Brookie,
Now, it has taken me quite a bit of time, but I've broken your father into the idea of allowing you to spend some time with your boyfriend this summer. We have called his parents and made the arrangements - which are that you will be sleeping in Valerie's room at all times, and the two of you will be supervised. Now... those are your father's rules. I stand by the sleeping arrangements - keep in mind, sweetheart, that you are still very young. As far as the other rule goes, it will entirely depend on Vincent's parents. I know you are a smart, responsible girl, and I want you to respect the rules they set for the two of you. Remember you will be a guest there, and the first goal of wanting to see your boyfriend over the summer should not be for you two to do things that wouldn't be deemed appropriate by whoever is letting you stay.
We've set the amount of time to two weeks at the very most. I know this seems little, and you'll miss your friends and such over the summer, but I want to be a bit selfish too, and I want my baby girl home for the summer after she's been gone for a whole year already, and will be off for one more by the time August comes. We all miss you so much Brookie, and though I know you love this new school of yours and it offers so much to you, I do wish you hadn't chosen to go so far away. I feel like my baby is getting so old and slipping through my fingers. Too soon you'll be graduating and God only knows where you'll be off to.
Your sister is going positively crazy without her big sister to play with, and to be a little honest, I think your dad doesn't really know what to do with himself. Abigail is out of her 'boys are yucky' phase, but she's not quite into the 'I want to date a boy' one either, and so her playmates are girls from A to Z. And then, knowing that you have a boyfriend but that he's too far away to try and scare him out of the way... well, it will make a dad feel rather useless. And a daughter feel pretty lucky, I'll suppose.
Keep in mind our door is always open to your friends, if they want to come and spend a bit of time. The invitation obviously extends itself to Vincent... but I'll leave you to be the judge of whether he's quite ready to meet with your father just yet.
Have a fun end of the school year, we'll see you in June. Your father and I miss you and can't wait to have you back home.
Love,
Mom xxx
