PERSONALITY
Landon is a complex person with two personalities. Sometimes, Landon can get depressed. He’s learned to be controlled and calm when in the presence of other people. Since his family are important people, he always had to listen to them. His whole life had always been influenced by his parents so its hard for him to be his own person. Music always let him be who he is. He is sweet and kind and loves helping others. He is very smart and really enjoys Sudoku.
But Landon isn’t just the kind boy everyone thinks he is. He can be bitter, and he understands the powerful world of politics more than any other kid. Landon resents that his parents always put him in the spotlight to help their own careers and he hates how they always made him act the way they wanted him to. It was always about his parents. They were never there for him. Inside he is strong-willed and stubborn but, he’s learned that if he wants something he’s got to do what his parents want him to do before.
He puts up an act around people so that they would think of him as quiet or shy but really he just thinks that since his own parents don’t care enough to figure him out, why would anyone else? He never lets his anger get the best of him in public. He feeds his emotions into his music.
As for romance, he’s always been on the bad side of it. His parents were always arranging dates with him and some governor’s daughter just to gain alliances. He didn’t trust girls at all. He’s been played, used, and torn apart and he’s sick of it. Girl’s, he’s decided, were just like his parents; cruel, unforgiving, and heartless.
APPEARANCE
Landon is about 6”3 with long legs and arms. He has dirty blonde hair and startling blue eyes. His eyebrows are big but they go perfectly with his slender face. His skin is a light tan and it gets very dark in the summer.
He has a strongly built body. Landon is one of those guys where they don’t have to work out at all but still have those nice, lean muscles. Landon prides himself on his abs, though, whereas he does 100 curls a day just to get the Hollister god abs he has. He usually wears worn jeans or nice dress pants with either brand named shirts (sometimes flannel) or dress suit tops with a tie. He wears good clothes purely from habit, and at Gordon’s he wants to try and change his wardrobe to be something he loves, not what his parents expect him to wear. In his back pocket is a tiny songbook that he never leaves without in case he gets inspired.
His legs are longer than his torso, which makes his movements very graceful and smooth. His hands aren’t too big nor too small and his fingers are straight and slender, almost like a girl’s. He used to bite his fingernails but his parent’s made him stop because it gave them bad press. Having lived in England his entire life, he has a strong English accent. His hair is long enough to always be in his eyes. When his hair reaches his ears, it curls slightly, giving him a bed-head look which he tames each morning with a comb (or at least tries too.)
HISTORY
Landon comes from a long line of politicians on both his mother’s side and his father’s side. His family has lived in London since his great-grandparents moved from the countryside. His father is in Parliament and his mother is on Charity Commission. He is an only child.
Ever since he was a little baby, he’s been in the spotlight. His parents actually paid for an etiquette teacher when he was just a toddler. He wasn’t really a bad kid, just a neglected one. He always heard his father’s friends gossip about what a dismal kid he was but he never really understood what they were saying until Caroline, one of her father’s friend’s child. She was a loud mouthed girl with attitude to spare, but for the cameras she was a completely different person.
Caroline would bat her eyelashes and give them a pretty smile. She was a very pretty girl, blonde curls, blue eyes and all. Off camera, she was a whole different story. She would enjoy teasing Landon, calling him all sorts of names that would surprise even the drunkards in the bars. She taught him that to get through this in one piece, he wouldn’t have to change, just act like a different person around his parents and press.
Landon’s never gone to a real school. It was always boarding schools for him. Every year he would have to change schools, thanks to his parents mostly. They would visit and find at least one thing they would hate about the school and Landon would be out of there in just a few days. One time it was his fault. He got so angry he flooded the bathrooms and science rooms. The school had to be closed for a month for water damage and they never recovered after that.
Gordon’s was a definite change for him. He was the one to find the school online. He had been nice for the cameras and sweet on his parents for months before showing them the school. At first they were impressed, and then a little hesitant. It wasn’t like any school before. This boarding school wasn’t going to get him into Harvard, Yale or Cambridge, which was one reason why Landon loved this school. He just wanted a place to expand his music, being both a singer and playing various instruments like the guitar, drums, and the piano. This was definitely his school.
ROLE PLAYING SAMPLE
Landon stepped from the cab-not at all a limo- and took a deep breath. He was finally free from everything back in London; his parents, his nanny (yes, he still had a nanny. Which was a definite reason to get away from his home.) and every trouble he’s had since being born. He had finally convinced his parents to let him come to this school.
He was impressed. The school looked a lot nicer in person. It was beautiful to him. Landon couldn’t wait to get started with school and everything. He was curious to see how the music program functioned here, and if it was any good. He hoped it was. Landon didn’t want to leave and start all over again at another school half way through the year.
He grabbed his favorite guitar, Ellie, and slung it over his shoulder. It was October, so the air was nice and smelled clean, like fall. Here, it wasn’t that much different than London, except maybe London was cooler. His hair blew in his eyes which he immediately flipped out of his way. He was thinking about getting a hair cut.
Landon made sure the cabbie got everything before paying him. He grabbed some of his bags and made his way up the drive. There were a few students milling about but he didn’t approach them. He just wanted to get settled in and comfortable before he was off making friends. There would be a lot of intimidating people here and if he wasn’t in his comfort zone he wouldn’t be able to stand them.
His parents had been hesitant to send him here. They wanted him to grow up just like they did, in a well organized honor school that would give you a free pass to Cambridge or Oxford, or any other high ranking college in the UK and maybe America. He had never been to America before, and he liked it.
On the way here he had to make several other stops, like New York. He loved New York. There were musicians almost on every corner! There were so many people, and while he was used to the wild trends in England, it was different in America. Not so different that it worried him, but it was certainly interesting. It reminded him of home, but in a good way.
Landon hoped he would make friends here. Guy friends that would be interested in the same things he was, like music and soccer. He loved playing soccer. Girls, he was so certain that every single one of them was a scheming she-devil and he definitely wanted to avoid them. Landon wasn’t gay, he knew he liked girls. But that was before Caroline and before his mother started prying into his social life, making him go out on dates with horrid governor’s daughters. He just wasn’t interested in a romance yet. Maybe these girls were different though. There was a part of him that hoped they were.
