PERSONALITY
Marisol is a very bubbly, very peppy kind of girl. She's always feeling the need to be doing something, whether it's sketching new designs or going jogging at half past five in the morning, and sitting still is really not something that has any appeal to her, nor can it be done easily - people generally hate having to share a table or desk with her in class or at the library because she's always bouncing her leg or tapping her pen against her notebook, and so on. She's not necessarily a sports lover, but she needs her dose of physical activity every day, whether it's through doing yoga or going for a run, or to her martial arts classes, she just can't go a day without getting rid of the excess of energy in her body. She's extremely ambitious, always setting goals for herself that might seem unattainable to others, but she never lets them put her down. She truly believes that the only reason she won't achieve a goal she's set for herself is if she changes her mind and decides to try and reach a different one instead. Her optimism is very hard to break through.
However, she does all the hard work that goes with it - her goals are high, but she doesn't expect to get what she wants without doing anything, and so she spends a lot of her time making detailed plans of what she should do and how she should do it to get where she's going before actually putting the plan into action. She's a master of lists, she always has one ready for anything she comes across, and she'll generally take up the role of the leader whenever she has to do something with other people - most of the time, she doesn't even have to fight for it, her drive and positive, hard working attitude owns her the spot in a split second. She's practically obsessive of details - when she does something, it has to be done in a fashion that is not right, but perfect, and if she has to do a project over again because of one small detail that isn't so, then she will. It's not even for the grades - she doesn't really care how well she does in school, she'd be more than content with getting acceptable grades that still allow her to stay at the Academy on a scholarship, but it doesn't go with her personality. She needs perfection.
As for her sexuality, she was young - merely eleven - when she realized that she had a different kind of attraction to girls as her classmates seemed to have, though she wasn't too sure of what it meant at that point, but she soon realized as she grew older that, while her friends swooned over the latest hottest actor or singer, she found herself having the same reaction over girls. She felt a bit uncomfortable with it at first, having heard many different versions of how acceptable it was to be attracted to someone of the same gender, but her mother's open mindedness helped her pull through with it and accept herself for who she was, even if it meant losing a few friends in the bargain - at the end of the day, she didn't mind, figuring that it'd just been one of those things that made you realize who your true friends were.
APPEARANCE
Marisol is the kind of girl that definitely makes other people's heads turn, with her flawless, permanently tan skin and her wide, warm brown eyes. She keeps her wavy dark brown hair long, allowing it to reach slightly above the middle of her back, usually letting it down unless she's working on a fashion project for which she needs to work with the sewing machine or glue, or during physical activities. She stands at an height of five feet and seven inches, with a well toned body that remains soft looking and legs that seem to go on forever. She barely ever wears makeup, except for special occasions, because she doesn't really like the feeling of it on her skin, and granted - she doesn't really need it at all. She's a big fan of body lotions though, making sure to apply it to her skin whenever she steps out of the shower, and she carries a small bottle of hand lotion around all day long to make sure to keep them smooth and soft.
As for her clothing style, she can be very stylish and classy as much as she can go for a much bolder and original look. It depends on the occasion, but mainly on what she feels like that day. Her closet is filled with a wide selection of various styles, from fab jeans to smart trousers, fancy skirts to funky dresses, denim jackets to neat button downs. She can pull off practically any look, always adding a stylish edge to even the most simple outfit, whether it's a prom dress or the sweat pants and old shirt she uses to work out. She loves accessorizing, always spending a great deal of time on picking out the perfect earrings or bracelet to go with this or that outfit, and she never leaves her room without a small gucci watch and silver diamond ring (her birth stone), both presents from her mother for her eighteenth birthday. As for shoes, she has so many pairs she can't even count them, and she's not afraid to wear four or five inches heels in spite of her height.
HISTORY
Eva Rivero was living a simple, but plain life back in the city of Jaén, in the community of Andalusia, Spain. Her father was a worker among an olive orchard, and her mother stayed home to take care of the family, and mostly everybody was content with the way things were. They lived in a beautiful city and country, they had enough money to live comfortably, most of them already had a prospect for their future life, and they were happy. Except Eva - she was the ambitious one, the one daughter they'd always had to try and calm down a little as to her plans for the future, but she couldn't stick in one place, she always had to go somewhere else, do something more, and once she finished high school, she finally achieved what she'd always wanted to - she got a scholarship to go study her full college years in the United States. She left behind her family and her boyfriend of a year and moved across the Atlantic, feeling adventurous and carefree - and the feeling lasted for a couple more months.
That's when she realized she was pregnant. For the first time in her life, she felt completely lost as to what to do - she couldn't quit school and let go of her scholarship to go back home, the mere thought of it was almost sickening to her. But her monetary funds and support system were all the way back in Spain, and she didn't want to give her baby up for adoption. Along with the fact that she'd broken up with her boyfriend before moving over, figuring four years was too long a time for them both to wait around, and the knowledge that he'd moved on pretty quick too, she decided that she should start looking around for a part time job, getting hired as a waitress in a small diner owned by a motherly lady who automatically took her under her wing, and six months later, on the 10th of April 1992, she gave birth to Marisol Anabella Rivero in the city of Jacksonville, Florida. It was not an easy task, juggling a baby, college finals and a part time job, but with the help of Mrs. Jones - the diner's owner - who allowed her to stay at her own place for a very cheap rent, and whom she'd deemed godmother to the little girl, she pulled through until summer, during which she worked as much as she possibly could without neglecting her little daughter.
Her ambition pushed her to keep on giving the best of her in everything she did, and after four years, she graduated with honors, soon finding a job that allowed her to repay Mrs. Jones for most of what she'd given her and to soon move into a small house of her own. As for Marisol, she barely even noticed the difference between the first four years of her life and those that were to follow. She'd been a bright, cheerful toddler and she kept on being so as she grew older, making many friends in school, sharing several of her mother's traits of personality, including her drive and thirst for something more, her need to always be moving and doing something new, which resulted in her coming home with many scrapes and mud staine clothes four days out of seven. To try and get her to stick in place, Eva decided to sign her up for several classes and activities - drawing, soccer, martial arts, even cooking, but it was when she signed her up for sewing classes that she saw a real difference in her daughter's behavior - aside from school and martial arts, which she kept on taking up, the only thing she wanted to do was sew, draw dresses and costumes and other outfits that she told everybody she would make some day.
The next Christmas, Eva and Mrs. Jones both put their money together to give her a sewing machine and several other tools needed for her to practice and work on her newest passion, figuring that even if it passed at some point, those things would not be wasted, but as it turned out, her passion merely grew, and she was soon able to start making her own designs rather than going along with those the teacher taught her. It was at that moment, seeing how her passion had grown and how talented she was even at a young age, that her sewing teacher handed over brochures to a few art schools around the country, in spite of her being only twelve years old at the time. She brought them home to her mother and they started looking at them together, though Eva wasn't sure she'd be able to afford any of them, causing her to discard those that didn't make a mention of available scholarship. That narrowed it down to merely three options, all of which demanded very high academic potential, causing her to strive and work her hardest all through her middle school year so to achieve grades that would get her into a boarding school. When the time came to apply, they had narrowed it down to a private school on the pacific coast, and Gordon Parks' Academy for the Arts. As a couple of months went by without any replies coming from it, Marisol's optimism started fading a little, and once the letter of rejection came from the pacific coast private school, she started giving up hope completely, until a week later, a thick envelope greeted her on the kitchen table as she got home from school. That very night, she and her mom started making plans and talking preparations for Gordon Parks' Academy.
