PERSONALITY
Violet is, by far, the most subdued member of the Hale family. She's a shy, sweet girl who doesn't really know how to stand up for herself, having not learnt how to do so as she grew up with an overly protective brother and a sister whose personality is by far stronger than her own - though neither of her siblings have ever pushed her down or tried to take more place than her. Even so, Vi can hardly ever say no to someone when they ask something of her, unless it's something she is strongly and definitely against - her values are more important in her heart than her need to please people, but even so she tends to feel extremely guilty whenever she is forced to refuse giving her help or assistance to someone else, and it leads to her trying to find another way of doing something for the other person which is often a lot more demanding than it would have been in the first place. She stays away from the spotlight, but she is always somewhere nearby in the shadows to make sure she'll be there whenever her help is needed.
Meek and shy, her lack of social skills have lead her to develop a certain passion for her studies. She is always seen pouring over books and papers, and she is a perfectionist to the extreme, which also shows in her dancing. She'll never stop until she is sure nothing can be done to improve whatever it is that she is working on, and even then she is always convinced there could be something else to it. She keeps an high grade average in all of her classes, having rarely gotten something else than As due to her hard work and consistency. She is a bit of a victim when it comes to social settings - people don't often pick her out to hang out with unless they need some help with this assignment or that dance move, but she doesn't mind, always more than glad to be of some help to whoever asks for it, and behind it all there is always this small hope that she might make good friends with all those she gives her assistance to. She is deadly scared of rejection and failure, very emotional and overly sensitive - and when she realizes, always too late, that her classmates merely use her for their own gain, she tends to go through a breakdown.
She's extremely close to both of her siblings, in very different manners. Tyler has always given her the inspiration to reach for what she wants, and he's thought her dancing ever since he started learning it himself. There is no secret between any of them, and Vi knows she can tell anything she feels to either of them. She admires her older brother greatly and hardly ever fights with him. She does have a slightly different relationship with her sister, though. Rose is, without a doubt, her very best friend, the one she always goes to first if she has something on her mind, because she knows that no matter how much her twin might disagree with some of the things she's done, she'll never be one to say 'I told you so' as a way of comforting. She is extremely faithful and loyal to a fault, and she adores all of her family with all the love her heart can hold. She is also very obedient, not known to have gone against her parents' will once in her life yet, and she figures that doing as told is much simpler than going through the consequences of disobeying later on.
Violet is a very innocent girl, in more ways than one. She is a very naive and gullible girl, and she doesn't have it in herself to distrust other people. She puts a lot of faith in people, and it hurts in an excruciating manner when it is found that they have lied to her. It caused her a lot of night terrors as a child, when she believed every scary story her schoolmates told her at recess, being easily spotted as an easy target. Her innocence also extends to the level of purity. Her shy demeanor can be a good explanation to the reason why she's never had a boyfriend, or even kissed a boy, but her values are firmer still. Though she sees no wrong in dating, holding hands, hugging, kissing and small things of the sort, she has made up her mind to wait until marriage before having sex. This decision wasn't made out of a religious belief, though partly so, but mostly because of the way she's seen her girl classmates sleep around, which had set her up on deciding she didn't want to be like any of those girls.
APPEARANCE
Violet takes a lot more after her father than her mother when it comes to her looks, which often causes people to fail to see resemblances between her and her older brother, who looks a lot more like his mother, and even her twin sister who's more of a mix of both parents. With a permanent tan to her soft skin and wide brown eyes, she looks like someone who spends almost every hour of the day outside - which she actually rarely does, preferring the quietness of an empty room. She usually keeps her silky brown hair in its natural curly fashion, and the only times she straightens it is when she wants to put it up in a more orderly manner, which isn't really that often. She's not someone to care about her looks overly and she prefers going natural, which causes her to stay away from anything that's used by most girls her age, a common ground she shares with her twin - she and Rose don't have a whole lot of very similar features, being fraternal twins, but they share most of the general things; the brown hair, the hint of a darker skin, the petite body, and some facial features.
Due to years of dancing and exercising, she has gained and maintained a lean, slim and toned figure, well shaped with every curve in the right place. Standing at the the tiny height of five feet, smallest of the family by little - her mother beating her out by merely one inch - she often gets teased by both of her siblings for her small size, though Rose is only two inches taller than she is. She dresses in a very simple manner and a lot of the time she's a year behind on the latest trends, because she takes such good care of her clothes that they last her for a long time and still look as if she'd just bought them one or two years later. A pair of nice, clean jeans, and a simple shirt tends to be her trademark look, though she sometimes tries giving is a slightly more feminine edge, but mostly she just cares about being comfortable. Though it would obviously help her height, she never wears heels, keeping it to sneakers and flats. As for make up, the only that ever finds its way to her skin is stage make up - she doesn't even own any.
HISTORY
Violet Wendy Hale was the very last baby to join the Hale family, born second to her twin sister Rose Zoe on September 16th of 1994, in the town of Suffolk, Virginia. Soon after the twins' birth, Sally Hale received a very disturbing diagnosis, announcing that she had ovary cancer, which caused her to give up her dream of ever having a big family, thus causing her to fall into depression. Due to this, Vi and Rose were mostly raised by their father during the first few years of their lives, alongside with little Tyler who was merely four years old when they were born - and during her first few years of life, Vi was said to be a completely adoring child when it came to her older brother, often seen crawling behind him like a little faithful puppy. The earliest memories Violet has of her childhood are usually of activities done with her father, brother or sister, rarely include any of her mother, but as the children grew older Sally realized what a waste it would be to miss out on her babies' lives because she couldn't have any more.
Violet was always a very quiet child, especially when put alongside to her slightly more noisy and expressive sister, who was often found pounding as hard as she could on pots and pans with a wooden spoon, whereas Vi strongly preferred staying in her own little bedroom to play with her dolls or look at the pretty pictures in story books. Her love of those caused her to learn how to read and write earlier than a lot of children, encouraged by her parents and even Tyler who would let her 'help' him with his homework whenever he got home from school. She was never one for activities that required screaming and running around, which probably made her a slightly boring playmate, and even when she started school she never really got into those kind of games. Her parents were slightly worried by her lack of social mingling when she came home from school without any news about friends she might have made at recess, in contrary to Rose, but she never felt lonely. She had her twin sister and her big brother - why would she need anyone else?
She was seven years old when she discovered what would become her passion in life - one afternoon, she made her way downstairs to the basement, unaware that Tyler was busy practicing his dance moves there already, and she froze in curious fascination as she watched him for nearly half an hour before he noticed her presence and instantly offered to teach her a few moves, seeing the look of shy wonder on her face. It wasn't long before she asked for dance lessons and followed in her older brother's steps, literally. From that moment she spent practically all of her spare time practicing and learning more. She then started taking up other time of more physical classes, like yoga and such, to improve her flexibility and balance more, varying her dancing classes through ballet and ballroom, always wanting to make sure she wasn't missing out on anything. Even so, her grades at school never once dropped as she still put as much time in her studies as ever, barely even finding time to do anything else than dance and do school work.
There was only one moment in her life, after she'd started dancing, when she refused to keep doing it, and it was when Tyler announced he was leaving to go study far away. The sense of betrayal was strong, and she was heartbroken, feeling like he'd decided she wasn't good enough of a dance partner anymore, and now he was leaving to go a thousand and one hundred fifty miles away from her. It wasn't until she received his first letter, where he explained that it was just something he had to do and that he'd miss her and Rose more than she could ever imagine, that she made up her mind - she'd taken up her brother as her role model, and this would be just another thing to do after him. She started dancing again with more passion and intensity than ever before, determined that when she entered her very first year in highschool, it would be at Gordon Parks' Academy for the Arts, glad to find that Rose shared the same goal though with a different way of pursuing it - because she just knew she would never have been able to live so far away from her sister.
When she was fourteen, she sent her application, living through the few torturous months of waiting in a frantic way, terrified that Rose would get in and she wouldn't - knowing that Tyler had made up his mind to stay in Kansas City to go to College, and the visions of her being stuck in Suffolk alone whilst both of her siblings studied what they loved far away from her was just too much for her to take - or that she'd realize once she got there that she wasn't good enough for it, that everything would go wrong, and so on, even in spite of Tyler's advices and attempts and cheering her up and encouraging her. Her frights however vanished when one day, she came home from school to find two bulky enveloppes on the kitchen table, one addressed to Rose and the other to herself, and it was found that the two girls had been accepted.
