PERSONALITY
The first time you have a conversation with Gwendolyn, she’ll tell you to call her by her nickname - Gwen and won’t respond to other names that students like to come up with for their friends. She comes off as anti social because she’s so quiet, but it’s hard for her to let her walls down for people, liking to get to really know a person before she just lets them into her world. Gwen basis her friendships on first impressions, picking off what she either likes or doesn’t like about that person before she makes a decision on whether or not she would pursue some sort of relationship with them. It’s something she picks up from her father, seeing as he is part of the FBI and tends to do the same things and tells her what to look for in body language and certain habits. So, it isn’t something she does intentially, the scrutinizing part is what her father molded her to do and sometimes makes her come off as strange or a bitch. She can be a bitch when she wants to be and usually knows what to say to people to hit them where it really hurts. Her temper is easily tipped off depending on what is said or done and sometimes it takes a while to calm her down.
Otherwise, Gwen is a very gentle individual. She stays to herself, socializing when it deems worthy, but tries to pick the people who don’t mingle in with others who cause major drama. Although, Gwen can’t say she doesn’t like a good gossip every now and then, often enjoying picking up those celebrity magazines to find out what’s going on in the world as she has no cable to keep her updated. She likes to know what’s going on with everyone, but won’t ever get into the business because she knows that when you put your nose where it doesn’t belong, you’ll be the one they turn on in a snap. Being raised in a strict household where it was mostly work and no play, Gwen was taught to focus primarily on school and her chores. Her parents had a good work ethic and wanted the best for their daughter. So, they raised how on how they were raised. There was no cable or internet, and enjoyed the music from the 80’s and down as her both parents failed to update from their ancient record player. She’s an old fashioned girl liking the vintage styled clothing of the yester years and not really into the hip gadets of today aside from the mp3 player which is loaded with mostly older music from entertainers like Neil Diamond, Diana Ross, Michael/Janet Jackson and The Bee Gees.
The environment is one of her main concerns as well. She has no trouble voicing her opinions on it. Gwen can’t stand the littering, the tree cutting and the pollution people these days just let flow through the air. She’s the person who will cut off your light if you aren’t using it and open the blinds instead or shut off the water when it’s being used while your brushing your teeth or washing a dish. Gwen won’t hesitate to pick up garbage, as long as it’s not completely unsanitary and dispose of it properly. She also happens to be a vegetarian after watching a documentary on how animals are slaughtered for food at the tender age of eleven. She’ll eat tofu, sometimes eggs and once in a blue moon with indulge on fish, but will not otherwise touch a hamburger or anything relating to real meat. She doesn’t put down those who do eat meant, but won’t be around when they do and unless she has to or chooses to, she won’t look at them until they finish chewing. She has a deep love for animals and even owns a few of her own domestic and non domestic due to her mother’s job at the animal clinic.
School isn’t something she loves, but is expected to bring home A’s and B’s - nothing lower. She was often grounded for anything with a C or below so Gwen focuses most of her time studying, working hard to achieve the grades that will make her mom and dad proud. If she’s not doing school work then you can probably find her somewhere secluded writing a poem or a short story in one of her many notebooks. That is when she is most herself, in her element, easy to talk to and very likely the time where she’ll offer her beautiful smile and a suggestion to join her for a chat. It’s hard to believe that Gwen has never really had a best friend, but she hasn’t usually not having that sort of time to lend while growing up with her lack of social skills at the time. She’s never had a boyfriend either. There were a few crushes she’s had, but no one really took an interest in her as they knew who her father was and what he was capable after a boy in one of her classes asked her to the winter formal in sixth grade and got the most heated interrogation from her over protective father. Word had spread after that incident. She remains a hopeless romantic though daydreaming of the kind of prince charming in Cinderella. A girl could dream, right?
APPEARANCE
Gwen doesn’t really see herself as attractive, but if she would be less oblivious she’d see just how beautiful she is. She does get a lot of head turns when she walks, but never really notices it. Her hair cascades in gorgeous waves of sandy brown with natural sun kissed highlights blonde. She takes good care of it, washing it at least every three days and doing homemade treatments of olive oil and mayonnaise to keep it sleek and shiny. It’s rarely put up in a ponytail unless she is in class or outside when the heat becomes unbearable. Her face is round with high cheek bones, natural pout lips and bright hazel eyes that turn into a lighter brown out in the sunshine. Gwen doesn’t do makeup, not really liking the cake feel that stays on her face.
She stands at an average height of five foot four and is a little over her average weight, but doesn’t really like to indulge on that physical aspect so much. Her skin is fair, prone to rashes, scrapes and sunburn, but she keeps it moisturized as best she can and puts on a little sunscreen whenever she goes out on hot day. Her hands rough with calluses on the palms due to the housework, gardening and yard cleaning she does on a daily basis as well from her constant poetry writing. Her smile is pretty contagious and lights up her whole face like a Christmas tree when she does.
HISTORY
Penelope Jensen was raised on the country side of Montana on a farm. She had a deep love for animals, watching both her parents care and feed the ones they had. The cost of college was too much for her to become a veterinarian like she wanted to and her grades were too low for a scholarship so she decided on studying to be a animal handler at a special college for it. After eighteen months she moved to Florida and got a job a Animal Kingdom for the reptile section. That’s where she met Anthony Christensen, a local Orlando police officer who had been in the area at the time of her call for help with a park go-er who had a heart attack at the reptile exhibit. It was love at first sight and after questioning her, he called her from the number she had to give on the witness report. They were married only after one short year of being together. They decided to move to Washington D.C where he was originally from for his schooling. He went on to finish his schooling to become an agent for the Federal Bureau Investigation team. He applied shortly after and was only waiting on their response when Gwendolyn Nadine was born on April 9th, 1994. There were no complications and their baby girl came out strong and healthy. As soon as Penelope healed the new parents were able to bring their precious cargo home. Gwendolyn, quickly going by the nickname Gwen was the perfect baby. She slept when she was supposed, didn’t cry so much unless she was hungry or wanted to be held. The first year went by so fast and pretty soon she was up and walking, babbling and giggling like the happy child she was.
When Anthony got a phone call saying that the Federal Bureu received his application and wanted him to go to a training at the FBI Academy in Virginia, he quickly accepted not thinking of telling his wife. Penelope was upset, telling him that he’d be gone and be missing out on a lot. They had their arguments back and forth, but in the end Anthony went anyway saying he’d be able to provide better and it was a much safer job than being a police officer where he was on the front line. She relented and stayed home, working at an animal clinic on the weekends where Gwendolyn stayed with her paternal grandparents. They discipline Gwendolyn, teaching her right from wrong, what she could and couldn’t do and played educational games on the days she was there. The same thing happened at home. Both parents were hard and strict, raising their daughter with no cable and listening to old albums like The Beatles, John Lennon, Michael Jackson and Madonna. After he father finally found a job in the area close to the White House, they had a surprise. Penelope was pregnant and after nine months out came Grace Anastasia, but was diagnosed with autism, which began to rapidly develop during Grace’s toddler years. Gwendolyn became the most amazing older sister, picking up on her younger sister’s mental disability and played with her or helped her whenever she could. Only six years apart, they looked they might become quite the duo. She helped her mom out a lot. After all, it was all work and litle play in the Christensen household. Homework was always done first then her chores and at night she studied before allowing to watch whatever was on the fourteen channels they had on television, but Gwendolyn preferred to use that time to write. She had a thing for poetry, writing out her emotions or things she thought about. It was something they encouraged. Gwendolyn didn’t see her father very often as he worked odd hours for the FBI doing kidnapping cases and homicidal cases and such, he was a badass when it came to interrogating so it was very hard to lie to him about anything. She was a daddy’s girl, but she had a good relationship with her mother, who she always went to visit after school at the animal clinic.
It was around that time when she decided on being a vegetarian, after she saw a documentary on how they slaughtered meat and where it really came from. She spent a few minutes in the bathroom, vomiting over it and so her mother accommodated to her decision as did her dad, both eating meat away from her and buying her meat supplements like tofu. Being enrolled in a private school that taught studies from kindergarten to eighth grade, Anthony and Penelope were looking for a high school, public or private school that would suit their daughter’s needs as she was blossoming with her poetry that won ribbons, certificated and even a cash prize. They found Gordon Parks Academy and found it to be suited to what they and Gwendolyn wanted, but were worried about the distance and the absence of their daughter. The three talked about it often, debating and pointing out specific details that they either liked or disliked until finally they came to a unanimous decision that she should apply as long as called twice a month and visited during spring and winter break. They had to explain the situation to young Grace and she cried a bit, but was otherwise okay with her big sister leaving. After applying, Gwendolyn’s acceptance letter came only two weeks later.
ROLE PLAYING SAMPLE
Marissa sat back in her chair, dangerously balancing it on its hind legs as she watched students begin to flood in through the gym doors. So far, no one had really captured her interest enough to move her from her seat and most of them came in with their dates. It kind of hurt that no one had asked her to homecoming, but she figured it was because she was a fairly new student and freshmen one at that. She admired a few girls’ dresses or their hairstyles and many of the boys she couldn’t help, but notice that they looked exceptionally handsome in their formal attire. It really was strange to see the people you see everyday all dressed up. Many of them looked completely transformed to the point where she didn’t recognize until she was able to get a closer look. Marissa had a fondness of watching others and seeing them interact with each other. Like now, for instance she just found it to be a bit hilarious. It was beginning to become a game for her. You could tell who had been already dating by how comfortable they looked to the ones who seemed nervous and slightly jittery standing next to their date. If she were watching herself, Marissa would say she looked damn near bored.
As if balancing back on the back two legs of a chair, arms folded and chewing on a silver necklace chain didn’t shout bored enough, Marissa brought out her phone from her clutch to text her hometown friend to give her the play by play of the night. So far, nothing to report, but she figured she’d improvise and give the bed ridden girl something to gush about. As her fingers began to fly over the keys, Marissa was unaware of her surroundings and didn’t notice Jared Greene take a seat beside her until he actually spoke. She jumped in surprise, almost falling back on the floor, but luckily caught hold of the table and righted the chair on all fours like it had been made to. Marissa glared playfully at him, depositing her phone and unfinished text message back into her clutch.“Aside from you scaring the bejeebers out of me? Pretty darn boring, actually. I expected more.” She told him truthfully,“I didn’t think I’d see you here, though. Have a hot date?”she teasingly wriggled her eyebrows at him.
