PERSONALITY
Brian isn’t really such a bad guy. His aloof demeanor kind of makes him seem intimidating to a point where others don’t really want to be around him anymore than they have to. It’s not that he hates people, he just see the need to be around a group. He actually enjoys being left alone and though others have tried to start a conversation with him, Brian isn’t one to give a lot of feedback, usually just listening and if they annoy him enough, he snaps like a twig. Brian has no qualms to expressing his opinions, he will argue or tell off a complete stranger or even someone he knows. He likes to get his point across and if it comes down to a fight, he’ll be the first to throw the punch, but he tries to hold himself back as much as he can. Of course, there comes a time when he does have to talk with someone like for a school assignment or if he just likes them as a whole then holding a conversation doesn’t bother him all that much, it really depends on the person. He responds well to those who remind him of his late twin sister, someone full of life, that doesn’t seem to have an off switch on hyperness and lights up the room with a smile.
Most people describe Brian as the silent, mysterious type. He only speaks when spoken to and doesn’t really say much unless he wants to, so getting him to open up is pretty damn hard. His social life is pretty much non existent aside from the snotty little rich friends he has back home. The last remains of the old sweet, nice and friendly Brian died with his twin, whose death he still hasn't completely coped with. Brian might have one friend that he tends to get close with, but not enough that they’ll be best friends forever. There isn’t much to tell about his relationship with girls. He’s kissed and felt up a girl, but never got further than that. He doesn’t feel the need to have one and finds them to be too complicated. The shorts flings he’s had were broken off by them, not him and the reasoning was that he was an empty shell. Brian tended to get complaints from them on why he doesn’t touch them, take initiative or tell them what he’s thinking or feeling. It’s not his fault he’s never had anyone talk to him or show him what to do on a date with a girl. Expressing his feelings is hard for him, but he just needs someone patient enough and willing to show him how to be boyfriend material.
School isn’t something Brian enjoys all that much. In fact, he pretty much hates it to a point that he seriously considered dropping out. Unfortunately, his parents had threatened to disown him, which was probably the most attention he’d gotten from them since he was five. He’s not a dumb person, he’s actually quite smart with absorbing information that he doesn’t ever really study. Filming is the only thing has interest and he hopes to make it as a director if not for big films, but for independent ones. It was a passion that he had later picked up from his sister and was going to follow it, not only for him, but for the both of them.
APPEARANCE
There is no denying that Brian is handsome. He is fair skinned with an oval face lined with light freckles that go across the bridge of his nose. He has smoldering, deep, brown eyes that hold a light edge to them that tend to scare people off sometimes. It’s his fluff of brown curls that slightly soften his intense features. The dark brown color of his hair he got from his dad, but it’s the unruly curls that he inherited from his mother. He doesn’t really care for his hair much, it just takes a few swipes of his hand to fix it up before he heads out and that‘s about it. Brian is also fairly tall for his age, standing at a height of five foot eight inches. A height as that is usually accompanied by the gangly trait, but he is far from it. He is strong and fit with a muscular, athletic build.
Smiles are rare for Brian. He is very self conscious of himself and feels that his smile isn’t all that perfect. There is a slight gap between the two front teeth and he has slightly chipped tooth. Instead he settles for his well known trademark half crooked grin. Some find it charming and others find it odd. When it comes to fashion, Brian’s choice of clothes ranges from prep to casual, but there are times where he’ll dress up- button down shirt with a tie and all. Still, just like any other guy, comfort his key and no one can go wrong with a t-shirt and jeans.
HISTORY
Phoebe Nelson was born into wealth and brought up to be a respectable young woman. Her marriage was pre-arranged at the tender age of seven to Austin West, a twelve year old boy. Their parents were good friends and felt that having a tie to each other would benefit. Phoebe and Austin took a long while to warm up to each other and it wasn’t until Phoebe grew out of her awkward stage did Austin start to take notice of her. At eighteen, she married him. It was a big wedding and reception. The honeymoon in Cancun was romantic and soon Phoebe was pregnant. Nine months went by quickly and on October 25, 1994 she gave birth to twins. It was a pleasant surprise as they hadn’t wanted to know the gender of the baby nor the quantity if there was one. Much debating went around for names, but soon the couple came up with Brian and Briana. After healing up from the C section, the small family moved from Malibu, California to Beverly Hills, California. Brian and Briana were loud and obnoxious, crying at all odds of the night and never sleeping for more than five hours. If one cried, it trigged the other to cry. For those first few months they were terrors to live with, but eventually they came around.
Brian was older by a full five minutes, a fact that he grew to learn to use against his younger sibling, who didn’t like it one bit. Though, they lived off a large sum of money inherited from their respective parents, Austin and Phoebe didn’t like to feel unproductive. Austin started his new job as a skin surgeon usually working late hours at the hospital while Phoebe spent her time trying to break into the fashion industry as a designer. A nanny named Naomi was hired and raised the twins who didn’t get to see their parents very often as regular children did. They were enrolled into the most prestigious of schools, forced to learn things like French and violin instead of being allowed to play outside or watch television. Briana had taken an interest in filming things, trailing after Brian and narratorating whatever he did until it annoyed him. Their parents didn’t like the hobby and took away her video camera. Phoebe and Austin weren’t in their lives, but is looked as if they still ruled it. It something Brian grew to accept, but his sister Briana rebelled against the unfairness of it all. She tried everything to get their parent’s attention often dragging Brian into her schemes, but one day her efforts cost her life.
After climbing a tree and falling, Briana fell into a coma and her family refuses to take her off life support. Although Phoebe and Austin stopped visiting after a year, Brian made sure he came by everyday after school with Naomi to spend at least an hour with her before leaving. His personality changed completely. He got into fights, received detentions, disrespected and talked back to his teachers. At eleven years old, Brian officially lost his sister, but didn’t exactly come to terms with her death and brushed it aside as he didn’t want to dwell over it. He didn’t even shed a tear at her burial. One day while going through her possessions, he found her old video camcorder. Pretty soon, he took up the same interest in it as his twin did. He would write short scripts and act out each character then show the mini shows to his nanny, who was the only person aside from Briana that actually cared about him and his interests.
Despite that, Brian remained loyal to his rebellious streak. He got detentions, ditched class and go discipline notes sent home. The only person he showed compassion for was Naomi, who tried her best to subdue the rebellious pre teen, but it was a lost cause. It wasn’t until Brian attended his first black tie party by threat from his father did he hear about Gordon Parks Academy, a school for the arts. It had numerous art programs like theatre, dance and fashion design, but it also had a film program which was something that grabbed his attention right away. He cleaned up his act, climbing in the ranks for a good enough grade point average. His parents were alright with the idea of Gordon Parks hearing that it was an extremely good boarding school. After he signed up and was accepted, Brian said goodbye to his nanny, who was going to be let go as her services wasn’t needed any longer. On the plane, Brian felt a rush of relief sweep through him at the prospect of being away from his parents for a whole year, not that they would care.
ROLE PLAYING SAMPLE
Jacob was slouched over his desk, one arm keeping his head upright while the other diligently wrote down whatever Mr. Kendall was saying about the periodic table that would be on the upcoming test. He rolled his eyes at another lame joke the teacher tried to make that earned dry, forced laughs from a few of his fellow classmates. Science was not his favorite subject, he didn’t see the point of learning any of this if he was never going to use it. It didn’t mean he didn’t understand it, though. He actually earned A’s on the last two tests they had. It was just that he didn’t enjoy the class itself. At this moment, he was willing to give up anything to be in music class right about now. The yearning to play a few chords of his guitar or hit a a couple of keys on the piano was growing with every passing minute while he was sitting there taking notes. There was another sad excuse of a joke from Mr. Kendall and this time Jacob didn’t even try to laugh, leaving that up to the rest of the students who reluctantly complied. He sighed, switching his position so that he was leaning back in his chair as he continued to try and focus his attention to the lecture that was going on.
The class as a whole seemed to breathe with a sigh of relief when Mr. Kendall stopped his lecture for the day and announced that they would be doing a team homework project. He wasn’t sure who he’d end up with as he scanned the classroom, but it wasn’t until the teacher said that he had made the teams himself. Jacob didn’t really care as long as he didn’t get either Tasha or Tiffany, they had to be the loudest and most annoying people he’d ever met. Their constant talking during class had gotten on his nerves and it seemed Mr. Kendall had felt the same way because he separated them real quick. Unfortunately as luck would have it his names was called along with Tasha’s and he groaned, glancing over at her. She seemed to acknowledge her name being called, but didn’t move a muscle to get the papers at the front of the room. He rolled his eyes, stood up, gathered his things, made his way to the front for the papers they would need and walked over to where Tasha was sitting. “Here,” he said, placing the papers on her desk. “You’ll be needing these.”
