PERSONALITY
Every since she was younger, Amber has had a very undeniable trait of ambition. She was always very excited about school and activities she would be apart of, as well as even making her won businesses to raise money. She's also very self-motivated, making school usually something she can handle. Even though she's self-motivated, she's also very easily distracted by emotions and such. Thus if somethings bothering her, she can't quite focus on certain things.
As far as her social habits go, she's usually quite cheery unless her mood states otherwise. She can be shy, especially around boys, but she is often as friendly as possible to her peers. She doesn't usually cause any drama, and doesn't enjoy obtaining any unnecessary attention. She doesn't have any dating experience since she's easily embarrassed. She's an easy person to get along with, since she hates fights and avoids conflict. However she might get stern if the situation calls for it. The only thing that she sometimes had a problem with is thinking something of someone too soon. Almost making her somewhat judgmental, which can have many negative effects. She thinks either too much or not enough of someone, making her too trustworthy of strangers.
Although she can easily be happy-go-lucky if her mood is cheerful, she's definitely very emotional. Amber's emotions are usually quite large, making her bad emotions bad and vice-versa. With her history of depression, it doesn't take much for her to shut herself back in. However, so far there are enough things to make her excited, so those two things sometimes cancel each other out and leave her in a neutral mood.
APPEARANCE
Amber has dark, coffee colored hair that falls to her rib-cage. It's sleek and straight and can often be found even straighter with the use of this cool thing called a flat-iron ;D Her bangs are usually either clipped up or hanging loosely to the right of her face.
She's around five feet and inches, and is pretty slender. Her limbs are thin as well, and are coated with a thin layer of muscle. Her curves aren't very noticeable, but their not invisible either. Her skin is light and she burns easily, making bathing in the sun a chore.
Her face is supposedly elegant, with a square-like jaw, curved, sharp, full lips and arched eyebrows that frame her bright blue eyes. Her skin is almost blemishes, although she does have her times. Her only makeup she'll wear is lib balm and the occasional coat of mascara.
Amber's apparel usually consists of any cute, comfortable clothes. She'll wear anything casual, as has a rare passion for dresses. She hates heels, and goes for more comfortable choice such as converse or sandals. You can find her wearing jeans and a dress shirt, or sweats and a matching sweatshirt. It all depends on the mood. :3
HISTORY
Amber grew up with separated parents, and although common, it did put a lot of stress on her life. Her mother and father were definitely not fit for each other, one being very responsible in life in general. On the other hand, her dad was a fun guy, sure. But his money habits were reckless and caused Amber's family a lot of stress. After several, loud years of marriage, the two of them officially became divorced when Ambrosia was about two.
Breaking up when she was so young was a good way to go in ways of how much Amber would be affected. She didn't remember them ever being together, so there really wasn't any difference. Even if she had fantasies, they weren't of her mom and dad getting back together, since for many years Amber was resentful to her frustrating father. He had two sides to him, the really entertaining guy with lots' of charm; and the side where he didn't seem to care whose feelings he hurt. Thus, growing up Amber disliked him some.
More reasons to have resentment against him was when she was exposed to a kinda, loving father, who could easily support a family. Douglas, the man Amber's mom married when she was about nine years old. He was very sweet and caring, and even seemed to respect Amber's mother, Katina, whose always seemed to be insulted by Amber's real dad. Even better, Amber wasn't going to be an only child any longer, Douglas had two kids around her age.
Mia and Caleb, two Korean kids who were adopted by Doug and his ex-wife. Mia, being a year older, was quiet and shy. But after her and Amber became closer, the two were inseparable. Caleb, more known by Cal, was a year younger and more competitive to the fact of a step-sibling. But it wasn't too long until the silly fights over Mia were over and Amber's charm won him over. For six full years the family was happy and living large, although they had jumped around frequently due to Cal and Mia's adopted mother, Renee.
For a few years, the Beck family (Amber and Katina took Doug's last name.) lived peacefully outside of Austin. But, after constant demands from Renee, the family gave into finally moving into Austin itself. There, things started going downhill. With Renee always on their heels in the background about money she didn't need, Katina and Doug's relationship was being put under a lot of stress. By their sixth year together and the third year dealing with Renee, the couple finally broke and separated.
It was nearly impossible for Amber to consume the idea that her family would be split once again, but this time she actually had a family. Apparently, the kids had no idea this was coming, and although Amber found out first from her mother, the pain was enough to cost her many tears. Around the time Katina and Ambrosia were moving out of their Austin home, Amber had the urge to distract herself with other matters. She turned to the instrument she played in fourth and fifth grade; the violin.
She hadn't ever been really into playing it, but the violin was always something she could do in her free time. Learning new notes and songs made her feel accomplished. But this time it was different, Amber needed only a way to escape, and the only way she could think of escaping was to jump into Orchestra again. She pulled out her old, almost rotting violin, and played a few strings.
As the two packed up there things, Amber's violin seemed to be her very own therapy. Every time she had overwhelming emotions, she would sit on her bed and belch loud, sometimes harmful notes. Her mother often described the music as powerful and deep in thought, when all she was really doing was fiddling with her fingers and stroking the bow on the strings. She hadn't ever though of it as something useful in the way of academics, but when she found Gordon her mind changed.
After Katina and Amber were in their smaller, some what quaint home, Amber found herself constantly wanting to escape. She was drifting away from her friend and her only sister, and her grades were dropping constantly since her mind was elsewhere. Amber even swore there were times Katina considered getting back together with Doug. All these things brought back memories she wanted badly to rediscover, but dwelling on the past never got anyone anywhere. Instead she pushed her feelings away and found multiple ways to escape. When music didn't fulfill enough therapeutic energy, she was forced to find other hobbies. Literature was something that called out to her since she was younger, so she instantly found herself jumping back and forth between being depressed and nestled up in a book, to being confident she could get through things as long as she had her music.
But as her condition became worse she was diagnosed with a mild form of depression, something she couldn't seem to fall out of anymore. Then came a new fantasy, a new escape place where she could start fresh. Boarding school. Those words seemed like punishment to other people her age, but as she found many books surrounding such a concept, she was really set on going to such a place. It seemed safe and secure, and maybe even fun enough to distract her from the real world. However the real world said that boarding schools were expensive and difficult to get into, but as she researched, she found a very intriguing opportunity. A scholarship, not academic, but a musical scholarship. And as she looked into it her 8th grade summer, the possibility that she could go was getting bigger and bigger.
When she was accepted it was probably the most exciting thing she'd gotten in awhile. Eagerly she packed and kissed her mother goodbye, looking forward to her last resort.
ROLE PLAYING SAMPLE
I hope this counts, I can't exactly think of anything for Amber at the moment but I snagged a few posts from a Naruto roleplay I'm constantly active in. If this isn't good I'll surely make one for Amber, I'm just a bit tired and I'm lacking more writing muse. :P
First Sample ---> It was still early, how long had they been fighting? An hour? Maybe two? May shrugged as Ryūsuke stalked away, May had obviously made him frustrated to a point where May felt satisfied. It was better that way. Just training. May hated living like that, she hated how part of her wanted to ask him about himself and laugh about things that she shouldn't laugh about, but she wouldn't since the part of herself she listen to didn't want anything to do with him. Glancing around her eyes where brought to the sky, the sun seemed to coming out from hiding. Smoke danced in the distance and May figured it was from the fire her and Ryūsuke had been brewing up. As the boy moved away from her, he said something May couldn't quite make out. Not too far off from the village? May nodded as if she understood, walking up to stand next to him. . but far enough away to show they weren't friends.
"If you wanna go back. We can." May wanted badly to tell him that it wasn't his fault, that she had her own problems to deal with, but instead she looked down and said "Yeah, I'm feeling pretty lousy." She shouldn't have come to train with someone else, at least not someone who is so nice and friendly. He seemed hurt almost, but May didn't care. Right? "I can probably find the way though, I just need to get back to the clearing." Peering around she realized that the clearing was probably where the smoke was and she lifted her arm, pointing.
Her mind was still focused on the topic of Ryūsuke. He probably thought she was a bitch. Hell, she was a bitch. She could change anytime she wanted, she could be all happy and nice to everyone and have a billion friends, but would that help her? Would she fill up that whole in her chest? She didn't think so, so why bother trying if you know it won't last. Especially as Shinobi, there were liking going to be moments where you'd think your friends stood in the way of your dreams. May sighed and stood up straight, forcing a angry look. Why did she live like this? This is how I've always lived. She thought to herself, turning on her heels to the clearing.
Second Sample --->A mission, a C rank mission, and the first mission Miyumi had ever had. It wasn't the most wise chose she had made, but then again it wasn't entirely her fault. Her father had decided that she needed to hurry up and get "ahead of the game" so he sent her to look for a C ranked mission. Who knows what would have happened if she picked a D one, she knew she wouldn't be as stressed. But then again her father would have thrown a cow. Luckily there was a mission that required a team, or at least had a team, and she was acknowledged that she could join them if approved; she was. So now, Miyumi walked wearily along the bust streets of Iwa. She wasn't all that tired, but the questions and thoughts rolling around in her head did. They were those had made her stressed in the first place, and were quite exhausting.
The sun was hiding behind some clouds, and people of all shapes and sizes slid past her frequently. How in the world was she supposed to find her teammates? She had been told that there was a boy -- and a girl, both unaware of each other and Miyumi. She was given no way to recognize them, no way to realize if she was talking to them or not; all she had was a little piece of paper with her mission printed on it. It was going to be a long day, and even though she had already read it, Miyumi swiftly un-crinkled the rough piece of paper in her hands.
Her mission was simple, well not exactly, but easy enough for Miyumi to understand. She -- and her teammates, were to find and stop a small group of looters at their next heisting point. However their mission was a fallow up mission, someone had already found and achieved to get information back to the Tsuchikage. Apparently, one of the men, there were supposedly three of them, was a skilled katana user. Something that didn't really bother Miyumi, considering the hefty claymore on her back. The thing that bothered her, was that there wasn't any information on where the heisting would take place. Which means they would have to look for it, something the would take quite awhile considering she also had to look for her teammates.
Another thought, her teammates. What were they like? Miyumi was still feeling unsettled about the fact that she was working with people she didn't know, what happened if they thought she was weak like everyone else. The though made Miyumi heave a huge sigh, everyone thought she was weak. But she never questioned her abilities as a ninja, maybe as a teenage girl, but never as a ninja. She just hoped she wouldn't have to use those abilities.
As the day rolled on Miyumi was faced with many other harmful thoughts. What happened if she failed? What is she never found her teammates? What if she was too scared to do anything and the man with the katana struck? No, no, no. Miyumi wouldn't let any of those happen, she knew she had to work for what she wanted, and what she wanted was to go to the Tsuchikage's Office and report a successful mission. Thats what she wanted to do. So she continued to walk around, her apron-skirt occasionally flying up if there was a breeze. How on earth was she going to find her teammates?
